There's a guy in my gym who this morning disclosed that he had the gastric bypass surgery about two years ago and as a result lost over 100lbs. Guess what? He gained it ALL back. He figured he could go on eating all the italian food he could, along with whatever he ate beforehand, because "the surgery would keep it off".

Delusional, or a victim of the obesity boogeyman Vince insists exists in more fat folks than not?

And at my gym there is a woman who has kidney problems and can't eat more then 60 grams of protein but also has diabetes (genetic thing not from bad eating) along with bad thyroid issues yet still is in good shape and I consider to be hot esp with her nice rack, fat ass and flat stomach (which she isn't happy with cause she doesn't have a ripped six pack). Tell me how it is possible for her to stay in the shape she is in without having great willpower and discipline (she eats almost perfect and trains 1-2 times a day 5-6 days a week).

And I've already spoken of the 365lbs guy who have lost over a hundred pounds in less then a year and is still losing weight. He eats right and trains daily, he can't stand fat peoples lack of willpower either, I have discussed this with him myself.

We expanded the free weight section and put two leg presses and the Hack Squat machine there. So now the lads have more equipment and more room to train in. The general equipment room is better, too, but we have to relocate many of the machines to make the gym look and function better. There are literally 1000s of permutations and combinations of layouts that are possible.

The Easter Show is on in Sydney. I will go soon to have a look at the art and sculpture and perhaps woodchopping. Lots of opportunities for photography.

Soon I will be able to train again. All that work takes away any motivation to work out. I respect Sergio Oliva who came to America from Cuba in 1965 and worked in a foundry and then cold storage place and still went to the gym. That guy was motivated. People think champions have genetics but the truth is they train harder than the wannabes on Getbig who are the epitome of mediocrity.

I will take some photos of the upgraded gym. I think we have a world class gym at Meadowbank. We are about to replace most of our cardio equipment. That has been interesting looking at the various offerings. When I tried out a Nautilus elliptical machine I commented that the pivot point is wrong and it should be near the hip joint and not way out in front like Life Fitness and other companies make them. Lo and behold Cybex has designed their machine properly and it felt much better. The Nautilus one hurt my knees. I see lots of people using those machines but never knew how they felt because I seldom use anything but a treadmill. I must say the companies have been copying each other a lot and all in all the quality is quite good. A pity the maximum weight a user can be on those treadmills is 400 pounds. They really are not making equipment that is supersize friendly.

Oh, there was an article about a company providing larger and stronger toilet seats to accommodate heavy and large people. I think toilets are too low as well. I guess they still make them for shorties and kids instead of taller people. We can thank the fat people when airlines widen their seats. The theatres usually install wider seats for movies which is good.

Now what was the topic of this thread? Oh, yeah, BB want to know why they can't get big without steroids. Well, they are too damn thick to even know the formula if they heard it. That really is ironical in the 21st century. I guess it takes a reasonably intelligent person to get big. The dummies haven't a hope in hell of ever getting huge. Most give up and post on Getbig as assorted nobodies whose only hallmark is abuse.

Not enough bodybuilders have been involved in designing gym equipment. If they were involved the equipment would be more effective and not as hard on joints, etc. I mean, why are companies building arm machines with pads under the elbows? The elbows must not contact pads or the sheath can get damaged and your elbows will be forever sore. You will need to really warm them up with light weights and high reps to tolerate the heavy resistances.

About 20 years ago, when Arthur Jones was still running Nautilus, they built a great lat pulldown machine. You sat in it and the arc came from overhead and down to the top of the chest. Perfect. The clowns who took over have no clue whatever and now build lat machines that you pull towards you. Some salesman explained that apes do this movement while swinging in the trees. Ah, what folly. Those machines don't feel right. That is the way to test if a machine is good. Load it up and see if it feels right. If it hurts the joints something is wrong.

What companies do is look at what the competitors are doing and copying them. The problem with that is they might be copying the wrong designs. Now Cybex and other companies are making pulldown from the front machines. These companies are mad.

We have a fitness expo coming up in another week in Sydney. It usually takes me a couple of days to go around and make comments to most of the manufacturers. I might as well be giving muscle building advice on the internet because no one listens. The research and design people are protecting their jobs and quickly dismiss any 'improvements' to their designs. Cybex used to have the marketing people involved in the R&D department. I doubt Arthur Jones would have employed those guys. There are heaps of new designs and many clever solutions to various engineering problems. I can't say that leaps forward have been made, though.

Hammer make a great incline press and perhaps one or two other machines. Anyone installing a full line of Hammer don't know much about good gym equipment. I would buy the weight stack versions because I hate seeing big plates and clanging noise. Also, people always leave plates on the machines and others have to remove them before they can use them.

Oh, I forgot, knuckleheads bodybuilders don't use machines. They prefer free weights. I always wanted to own a huge gym without any free weights and then have another facility across the street with free weights so all the heads can go there. I bet most would gravitate over to where all the girls are!

I used to teach the intellectually handicapped who used to be called retarded. Intelligence is difficult to hide. Those lacking brain power cannot fool anyone with what they do not possess. It amuses me that the simpleminded here are confused by complex thought. They wouldn't have a clue when an argument was beyond hope of rescuing. At least Goatboy tries to rescue them and Debussey flavours matters with his inane utterances. He long ago has lost any contact with reality and now trolls internet discussion boards looking for a friend.

Clearly the debate about willpower cannot be settled by anecdotal reports. A quick survey of the quality of posts in this thread exposes the flotsam as rather basic creatures with primitive means of communication. I guess all those clanging dumbbells do affect intelligence. The more you use them the lower on the IQ scale you descend. Statements made by some resemble grunts and moans and not enlightened discourse. It saddens me that the legacy of bodybuilding will be passed onto the great Getbig unwashed who really are completely undeserving. When they have finished vandalizing threads they cannibalize each other with a glee not seen since the Barbarians invaded Rome long ago. The assembly here would make good foot soldiers and perhaps busboys in cafes. I certainly don't want to deny them their precious beliefs and principles re the physique nor the majesty they will never know.

Can you tell me what word the above cryptic puzzle makes?

It could be a million things, since the application of different systems can yield different results.

For example, the answer could be the word

FADE  of DEAF      (If this = a substitution chiper)

EDTH could be an acronym for several things

and so on and so on and so on.

In other words, your chiper have several solutions = there is no right or wrong.

Just the result of a first attempt.

Debussey can tell you that your "puzzle" has several solutions, thus, you can not claim that one is correct.

FADE and DEAF = also answers. See if you can figure out why.

And this looks more like a riddle than a brain teazer. Debussey can give you a few real brain teazers if you want.

The puzzle has several solutions. Here is the one Debussey found:

(simple substition on this one did not yield any result)

           ED
TH       -> Is a system. If we exchange the letters with their respective number in the alphabet, we get this:

          5 4
20 8   Which in turn makes up this system:

         y x
        4y 2x

If we exchange these letters with alphabet letters, we basically get 6 options for Y, and 13 options for X (given that we do not go backwards) This gives a whole range of possibilities, all of which must be accepted, since elimination with these alternatives = an easy task.

For example:

                         A D
                         E F

-> = FADE and DEAF

There are several other possibilities as well.

Since the puzzle system is NOT determined by the riddle maker, it means that ANY system for finding a solution MUST count, which in turn makes every solution that can be found a good solution to the riddle. (Vince claiming the only solution is a 9 letter word = BS, since any solution derived from a logical process must count here, since there was no restrictions given with the original riddle)

Gary Busey has spoken (and won).
