45 degree leg press vs the standing leg press
« on: February 23, 2007, 03:55:22 PM »
hey guys
I was thinking about going to use the standing leg press. I've always did the standard  45 degree   leg press. is one better then the other?? sometimes, when i go to the leg section of the gym, see that someone got stick or  dropped the weight on themselfs on the standing leg press..

FYI the standing leg press is the on that you stand on a  platform. its like a squat movoment.  a pic of it is on the MD cover

thanks

Both have advantages,
with a leg-press you can do crazy stuff and go really heavy without worrying much about injuries. Squat is more strict but it's a total exercise.

hey guys
is that really a squat machine then a leg press?? I've heard people in the past call it a standing leg press machine. so, thats what i called it bc i really didn't know the machine's really name.  I know that some gyms have it and some dont.. I saw the MD cover with Trey  and his crazy legs.. I just thought that I might try it.

if its a squat machine them I'll forget it b/c I do barbell squats already..

I like standing leg exersise that give you more of a natural movement and recruit more muscles.  I prefer to do all lower body exersises in an upright position because it feels more natural.  Now, i won't argue that you can't push some serious weight with the leg press, but that's also the problem.  I'd stick to the squat press.

I call it the reverse hack squat.

I use it sometimes...I face the machine......i have my heels off the platform....and only press with the balls of my feet

Try using it for more than just a standing calf raise.

Standing is deffenaitly harder, why? cause U have to balance more, and lift your own body wieght. when your laying dwn no balance and you just lift the wieght you racked on.

totally right. when i switch to standing militaries from seated militaries and had to  re-learn the movement. all thu there pros and cons to it. when your standing you can add some body english into it. when your seated/lying you can't cheat
