Nothing but a bad day?
« on: March 08, 2007, 06:47:45 PM »
I could hardly max out with what I typically rep with on squats today. The only excuse I could pull out of my ass was that my last meal was 2 1/2 hours prior to the workout.

I may or may not try again tomorrow. Maybe I'll just do leg presses. Anyway, my self esteem is in the gutter right now, but I had a great calisthetic and cardio workout anyway and I'm trying to be positive. I'm just disappointed.

I'm sure someone will be here to tell you why exactly but the bottomline is that you're body is a chemistry set.

Could be a food thing, could be a mood thing, could be a training thing, or a girlfriend/boyfriend thing...

who can tell, listen to your body. I don't train solely to a log, if I feel like doing strength I do strength, if I feel like endurance I do endurance...

don't beat yourself up, you're in a process it takes time

Sounds like you're turning into a pussy Figgs.

But in all seriousness, I seem to lift like shit when I don't eat for like 2.5 hours before I lift. When I start getting into the heavier sets my energy goes into the shitter.

Don't worry about it.  Could be a missed meal the previous day, not eating for a couple of hours, or you could have a cold coming on.  Either way as long as you trained hard it doesn't matter.  Get back in there tomorrow and beast it.

Thanks guys. You're right, and I listen to my body like any experienced lifter should. I thought I was doing that today.  :-\ I felt motivated and strong. I had absolutely no ride to the gym so I took the bus and I was just thinking about repping out 315. Imagining it to feel like a feather. I felt like I had it. I believed I was going to exceed myself. I lifted the weight from the rack and people stopped to watch. I told myself not to fail them, not to fail myself and I sunk down and got 1 hard rep, following it with another one which I wasn't able to bring back up.

I was embarrassed and ashamed. I tried again and I felt pathetic when some guy came up to spot me. Of course I had to assure him that I was having a shitty day.

My best squat was 335 for 7 (may be a "beastly" weight for some of you guys but I'm proud of it). Today I got 315 for 2. HIT cost me a lot of squat strength so I'm trying to build it back up, furiously!

Tommorow I'm going to torture my quads.

Thanks again. You guys serve as more motivation. And I won't fail you either. Tomorrow I'm going to laugh at today.

Funny that, cos I tried HIT and after I went back to normal training I was 20lbs down on my bench.

HIT sucks. I went down 20 pounds on almost all lifts. How was making the comeback for you? It took a while but, minus squats, I'm approaching my prime.

I've been training normal again for about 3 months.  Squats, deads, bent rows and curls are back up.  Military press, CG press are nearly there.  The bench is still down 15lbs.  I'm starting a chest priority routine next week for 6 weeks to try and sort it out.

Just laugh it off figgs. I cant imagine one abd day will ruin a guy like u, not with ur determination.

And i think HIT worked well for u, uv cum back to the gym bigger!! And yes uv lost a little strength, but ur hungrier than ever to not only get back the 20lbs on squat that u lost, but to surpass it.
So not only r u bigger now than u wer b4, but once uv surpassed ur PB in squatting by 20lbs ul b even bigger aswell.

keep kicking ass

Great leg workout today! I made up for yesterday. It was extremely intense to the point where I almost threw up a few times.

I've been training normal again for about 3 months.  Squats, deads, bent rows and curls are back up.  Military press, CG press are nearly there.  The bench is still down 15lbs.  I'm starting a chest priority routine next week for 6 weeks to try and sort it out.

Damnnn I'm going through the same thing. We'll make it back soon enough!

Thanks for the kind post. Your words motivate me.

How's your training been?
