Anyone know where to get a good deal on dumbbells over 120lbs through the net? I can order up to the 120's locally, but would like to get some 130's - 150's. These will be for my home gym. Thanks.

u might have a hard time finding dumbells that heavy online plus think about the shipping you might be better off just getting them locally.. and good luck with those are some heavy wieghts..

A local machine shop might be your best bet. Try contacting ARMZ on here..he recently got some bigguns for his gym.

here is my advice for you, cause I did the same thing.  get some prostyle dumbell handles. DO NOT get the threaded ones.  Also be sure to get the smooth endcaps. Then buy all your plates locally.  Hit up your local play it again sports store, and clean them out.  get about 280 lbs of 10s.  100 lbs of 5lbs, and a few 2.5  This will give you flexibility to adjust your weight from 80lbs to over 150lbs.  Also be sure you hit up Ebay for the handles. alot of times you can find the prostyle handles of ebay for dirt cheap.  Keep in mind the prostyle are fixed, meaning you have to use an alan wrench to take them apart.  Good luck!!!

That's a good idea. The only proviso would be that it would be better from to buy locally from stores with exchange policies, so that if any of the bars or plates needed changing after being put together, it would be easy. Even bring the bars in to the store and check which plates work with them before deciding which to buy.

You have to talk with a phone rep rather than using a web form. But Ivanko - the industry-standard as best I can tell - sells 'em up to 152.5 lbs.

Sounds like you may need them to be custom made. Those are pretty large. most dumbbell sets sets only go up to 100lbs.

Buy some Olympia-dumbells (weighing about 10-11 lbs.) without weights on. You can place the amount of weights on the dumbell you need.

exactly, most serious exercise equipment stores will have a pair of Olympic sized plate dumbbell handles or AT LEAST the regular standard plate sized handles that should allow you to have at least 150 pound db's, you'll have to pay for the plates but at least you won't have to buy and move a whole bunch of db's.
