damn....lucky you trab!! not quite the case here. me likey the diamonds! the more i have, the happier i am. btw...i'm a VERY happy girl!!
my engagement ring and band are molded together. I take them off to clean or work out. My center stone sits pretty high, and catches stuff here and there.
I know the feeling. I have a 3.5 carat pear that's set very high as well, much higher than usual. I had chosen the ring and had the jeweller place the loose stone in the setting. As it turns out, the setting was not big enough to hold the stone, and she had to make a custom setting big enough to support it. It differed from the original design I had chosen, and she did it with neither my knowledge nor approval, ...but when I got it, it looked absolutely fabulous, ...in fact better than the original design I had selected, ...and truth be told, I was just pleased to get my stone back. About 3 days after I gave her the order, Socrates over at Marquise Jewellers gave me shit for not giving the job to him, ...then he informed me that she was out of business and that I would be lucky if I ever saw the stone again. I ran from his store to hers and sure enough... she was out of business, ...and no one knew where to find her. Long story short, I get a phone call at work about a week later, and it's the jeweller letting me know my ring is finished, and was wondering if she could drop it off to me at my work. She lived close to my office, and since her boutique in Yorkville was now closed, it would be more convenient to come by my office rather than come to my place downtown. She also apologized profusely for being a few days late with the job and explained the challenge she had run into with the original setting selection not being big enough to support the stone. instead of mounting it from the centre, they had to build a bridge on the shoulders of the ring in such a way as to not interfere with the design of the ring, ...so as a result, it sits extremely high ...anyway... A little while ago, I was putting someting in the freezer and I was too tired to actually clear some space, so I figured I'd just place it in the ice bucket for now, let it stay cold then after go back and put it away properly. As I pulled my hand out of the freezer, my ring caught on the tray, and it felt like my finger was being ripped off. Immediately looked at my hand to make sure I wasn't bleeding, ...and there was my ring... without the stone.

Do you have any idea how hard it is to find a diamond in a bucket of ice? Needless to say the ice bucket came out immediately... and it sat on my counter until it was thoroughly melted... then the water was poured into a bucket through a strainer til I recovered that little baby.
I used to do the same thing! It worked when you did not want to be bothered!! but I was never as slick as you to slip it off if I saw a hottie.
DAMN Jag....why didn't I know you a few years ago!!
Tasha, slick nothing! Sometimes I would forget I was wearing the darn thing. I can't tell you how many times it has worked
against me because I've forgotten to slip it off, ...or worse. There was one time I remember when I prominantly displayed it, flat out told some idiot I was happily married... with 5 kids... really layed it on thick, ...only to discover that cute charming man on the other side of the room was actually his best friend!

Who knew?! And why do smart, intelligent, charming men hang out with neanderthals anyway? Can someone answer me that?!
