Do you ever take off your wedding ring?
« on: April 06, 2007, 07:16:25 PM »
Do you ever take off your wedding ring? Like when you work out... or under any other circumstances?  I'm just curious.

Wonder what the responses (if any) will be like.

Mine never came off until the bitter end.

If I was married, of course I would take it off when I'm lifting and training others....wait that would mean I would never have it on...never mind...my bad...

Dangerous around tool & power equip. I dont like the feel of jewelry. Wifey wears enough for both of us anyway. Wedding band seems to be woman bait on a me actually, or maybee it just seems safe to talk to married guys. I  knew lots of single gals who wore a wedding rings as a pest control measure.

I hate jewelry, even a watch on me. I just wear it when I go out.
Diamonds are a damn waste of money anyway, buy her the same value in rubies, emeralds & gold jewelry and you've a asset. Diamond ring depreciation hits like a car purchase.

I never take my rings off unless they need to be repaired.  I wear gloves when I lift so it helps to protect them somewhat.

All my wife's jewelry is set in 22.5K gold from Asia. It's all they use there. Its very soft. you can squeeze and bend  the delicate pieces.
The labor is so cheap there that except for complex designs, its basically just gold price @ market, buy or sell. Love to shop the gold shops in Bangkok.  My wife allways wears some kind of ring on he wedding finger, but she ain't into diamonds.

I knew a guy who proposed to a woman by a lake, He said something and she threw the $5G ring far as she could in the drink.

I don't always wear a wedding ring, mainly on girl's night out, or at times when I don't want to be bothered.

I take it off when I meet someone interesting that I'd might consider getting to know a bit better.

The big challenge is that they sometimes spot the ring before I spot them,
...or before I discover I might want to get to know them a bit better. That sometimes gets a bit tricky  :P

Thats cute :). So your talking, and you give a guy poker player eye and take off your ring? This is painting a interesting scene.

You might straight up explain it to a guy you want to know more about. That'd be flattering actually, because
your particular, but want to talk to him.

damn....lucky you trab!!  not quite the case here.  me likey the diamonds!  the more i have, the happier i am.      btw...i'm a VERY happy girl!!

my engagement ring and band are molded together.  I take them off to clean or work out.  My center stone sits pretty high, and catches stuff here and there.

Add some pieces with color'd stones to your collection, they'll appreciate more in value. Diamond prices are rather fixed in comparison. High quality gold too for your little one many years down the road. This stuff is all going to go thru the roof in price over time.

It's not that I'm giving them a poker player eye, ...it's just that sometimes you're out and don't want to be pestered, but you meet someone interesting... and you're not always aware that they've seen the wedding band. So when you take it off, and they ask you if you're married... and you respond "NO"... they automatically think you're lying, ...but don't say anything. I mean... really... what's someone going to say to you if they think you're lying about your marital status within a few minutes of meeting you? They not going to say anything.

I'd rather get to know who HE IS, without the phony act of who he thinks I may want him to be. Guys usually reveal more of who they are when they're not trying to get with you. Besides, I don't know if I'd want to go so far as to tell a guy I took off my wedding ring because I want to get to know him a bit better... that might be too much of a green light too quickly, ...might even scare them in the other direction. {lol}  When I say get to know them a little better, I mean just that.. getting to know them... while leaving the door open for things to develop naturally... if they are to develop. I didn't mean getting to know them in the biblical sense.

I know the feeling. I have a 3.5 carat pear that's set very high as well, much higher than usual. I had chosen the ring and had the jeweller place the loose stone in the setting. As it turns out, the setting was not big enough to hold the stone, and she had to make a custom setting big enough to support it. It differed from the original design I had chosen, and she did it with neither my knowledge nor approval, ...but when I got it, it looked absolutely fabulous, ...in fact better than the original design I had selected, ...and truth be told, I was just pleased to get my stone back. About 3 days after I gave her the order, Socrates over at Marquise Jewellers gave me shit for not giving the job to him, ...then he informed me that she was out of business and that I would be lucky if I ever saw the stone again. I ran from his store to hers and sure enough...  she was out of business, ...and no one knew where to find her. Long story short, I get a phone call at work about a week later, and it's the jeweller letting me know my ring is finished, and was wondering if she could drop it off to me at my work. She lived close to my office, and since her boutique in Yorkville was now closed, it would be more convenient to come by my office rather than come to my place downtown. She also apologized profusely for being a few days late with the job and explained the challenge she had run into with the original setting selection not being big enough to support the stone. instead of mounting it from the centre, they had to build a bridge on the shoulders of the ring in such a way as to not interfere with the design of the ring, ...so as a result, it sits extremely high ...anyway... A little while ago, I was putting someting in the freezer and I was too tired to actually clear some space, so I figured I'd just place it in the ice bucket for now, let it stay cold then after go back and put it away properly. As I pulled my hand out of the freezer, my ring caught on the tray, and it felt like my finger was being ripped off. Immediately looked at my hand to make sure I wasn't bleeding, ...and there was my ring... without the stone.  :o  Do you have any idea how hard it is to find a diamond in a bucket of ice?  Needless to say the ice bucket came out immediately... and it sat on my counter until it was thoroughly melted... then the water was poured into a bucket through a strainer til I recovered that little baby.  :P

Tasha, slick nothing! Sometimes I would forget I was wearing the darn thing. I can't tell you how many times it has worked against me because I've forgotten to slip it off, ...or worse. There was one time I remember when I prominantly displayed it, flat out told some idiot I was happily married... with 5 kids... really layed it on thick, ...only to discover that cute charming man on the other side of the room was actually his best friend!  :o Who knew?! And why do smart, intelligent, charming men hang out with neanderthals anyway? Can someone answer me that?!  >:(

Whew :(. Close one with that stone. Seems like its trying to get away ;D.
The Jeweler should have contacted you so you didn't freak out about them going out of Biz...

Why hang w/ Neanderthals? Sometimes just business. Cant really refuse, and He ain't Me.
I had a Biz associate from a, lets say... Old well established Italian family.  He liked me to go to the bar w/ him. He'd straight up say I make good girl bait. Hey, the girls that fall for him make their own choices, and some hang on like Velcro. What the hell, they can do as they please. He's up front and to the point. No bullshit.
He's  kind of disappeared, I'm sure hes doing fine somewhere.
