You know what is odd, even Princess Diana never found true love. But  many women believe in this fairy tale of a man on a white horse ( or a white porsche!) coming to sweep them up and all problems solved.

Ya'll been lied to...

And I'm listening to "It Never Rains( in Southern California)", talk about being in Tru Luv!!!

True love exists, just not in the Hollywood package that has been handed to us.

Did we not talk about you always being negative? Even though this isn't a thread about abused women in the system, you still bring it up somehow in some way.  :-\  Not everyone is miserable. Actually, I doubt any woman who has riden a white horse, would compare that to anything with a man you love.  :)

And Tasha's baby is beautiful.  :) As I said before... you did good.  :)

I was agreeing with O.S. she made a point about the true love of what the poets such talk about. I agreed.  Two post before mine.

I even said that true love does exist, just not in the Hollywood package. Man, I can't win can I? Maybe it wa the slight sarcastic overtone? 'Cause I really was listening the "It Never Rains in Southern California".

True loves exists, I watch it daily... I "felt" Knny's post earlier. My parents have been married 40 years, and are literally devoted to each other, I cannot express how much. I switch between being totally grossed out by them, to thinking it's sweet 8)

That sounds like a song.... Too melancholy for me, sounds like a Babyface or Sade song. Just give me Sunshine by Enchantment.

I know but it depresses me that you have a bit of a pessimistic view about women.  :'(

Since we span all four corners of the continent, maybe the getbig girls should pool our energies and find you the perfect woman. I'm sure the right one is out there, waiting for you.*  :D

* But only if you promise to write the whole romantic story for us in detail here on the girl talk board.   ;)

Thanks Dees, but i am having a change of jobs, sooo, I might not be as pessimistic. I'm actually happy, to get away from the courthose atmosphere. You know at work, i'm the dude who people always ask, "Why are you happy?" And I didn't realize I gave off such a pessimistic vibe (read "Grumpy Carebear" or E-ore).

As A woman told me once, "there is a lid for every pot". As far as romance, the novel might rival anything from Ovid....

I feel like I'm a Jedi now - lol

But seriously....It was something that when I witnessed it....I was floored.  Sure....I knew my parents loved one another & were married for over 43 years.  It's just at that instance I saw something that was unbelievable.  Can't really put the words to describe the emotions, but I knew that real "true love" existed in humanity.

Knny the Jedi :D

Me too. My dad got very ill and was air-ambulanced away to hospital. My mom refused to leave his side, told the hospital call the police is the only way she will leave. She slept in a plastic chair for days. Never left his side....

I, of course, stayed in a nice comfortable hotel and just visited :D

It's cruel the way they try an throw us out of the hospital like that.
My grandfather never really recovered after his wife passed on. He was just empty. Tough old German farmer too.

When my mother died, my dad deflated completely, but at least, she had a good place to die in a private room with me, my sister, my dad, all the friends, and people on the phone. He survived, although he always was a bit of the Alec Baldwin school ::) So his grief was the worst.

I had gone to the doctor and i saw an elderly woman giving a blood sample. Well, I saw her and her husband at a the grocery store. I was behind them, walking thru the doors. He grabs a cart and say, "Ya wanna ride...I'll push". She laughed. They were about 85-90 years old. I thought, now that is touching. They still had a sense humor and a playfulness to them after all these years, they seemed like newlyweds.

That's just so sweet and special to witness elderly couples still in love. My friend Al who was my sponsor in a company I was with a few years ago is like that with his wife. We had a huge Christmas party for all our Toronto distributors, and we had people from all ages, backgrounds etc., attending. Al was there with his wife, and they sat cuddled in each others arms. She with her head on his shoulder with this giddy smile pasted on her face. Half the night they were holding hands under the table. It was so sweet, they looked like little 13 yr. olds in the throes of puppy love.

I think true love is PASSION, and butterflyes....It's not a decision. Not something you need to talk yourself into. It's that overwhelingming feeling that you want and need to be with that other person, and that you would do anything for them, putting them in front of even your own needs.

YOU DON'T DECIDE TO BE IN LOVE, IT IS SOMETHING THAT YOU CAN'T STOP, YOU ARE DRAWN TO IT.

TRUE LOVE IS SOMETHING YOU CAN'T CONTROL...........AND YOU SHOULD NOT EVEN TRY TO.

for shame girls....this is a fem board and a 300 lb guy hits it it on the nail! 8)

you're right on mate!

sonnet 29

When, in disgrace with fortune and men's eyes,
I all alone beweep my outcast state
And trouble deaf heaven with my bootless cries
And look upon myself and curse my fate,
Wishing me like to one more rich in hope,
Featured like him, like him with friends possess'd,
Desiring this man's art and that man's scope,
With what I most enjoy contented least;
Yet in these thoughts myself almost despising,
Haply I think on thee, and then my state,
Like to the lark at break of day arising
From sullen earth, sings hymns at heaven's gate;
For thy sweet love remember'd such wealth brings
That then I scorn to change my state with kings

Thanks!  I have some experiience here. Although some people try to talk themselves into staying with their partner, I believe this to be true. Love is all about this, it's about feeling.

If you "think" and don't "feel"...then it's not true love.....

THIS I KNOW....

No, I 'm a hopeless romantic.

I want to be IN LOVE....you know, like that feeling you get. Although falling in love to fast was one of the signs of an abusive person(LOL)!!)....

seriously though, I want love, and romance, and you know all that stuff, not just a roomate to share responsiblities with. I thought I had that....I mean I was REALLY in love......I had that feeling, unfortunately-it seems that it was only one way.

I WILL NEVER SETTLE FOR THAT.(just having a roomate I mean)
