There is something wrong with the system, but it's not the guns... It's the way people just generally treat others in certain areas of the country.

In your society guns are used to get some power over to next guy, it is a tool used to oppress the weaker party, and when you give a gun to some peasant whose IQ is lower than average, you never know what happen. If we look statistics, forty-six percent of all Americans will suffer some sort of mental disorder in their lifetime, and most will not be treated until years after the disorder's onset, if ever, according to a nationwide survey. So if everyone have guns, just about half of them is a hands of mentally disturbed person. Try to find some humour about that, if you can. That statistic was in Washington Post, it wasn't made by me, so try to maintain you stability. No matter how you read it, you constitution allow even a mentally ill person to carry a gun, because there isn't no way in hell to rule them out with your health care system, and outcome from that will be more killings like in VT. Some moron would try to top those numbers for sure, and there isn't any way to prevent it.
Your constitution is written in era, when guns were needed to protection, hunting, maintain a living in wilderness. It could be just about a time to adjust that constitution to fit modern time and life. In European countries where gun ownership is controlled, there still is guns, but those are in hands of the people who know how, where and when to use them. "I want a gun" isn't good enough excuse to get one, but you have to prove you are good enough to have a gun. These systems rule out most of the mentally sick people, and abuse of guns are rare. Fore example; in Finland there is somewhat 50 gun related cases per year, most of them are drunks shooting to air in public places, some family feuds, motorcycle gangs fighting, and most of them are just threats. Still there is more than 610 000 licensed gun owners, over 2 million licensed and roughly 300 000 illegal firearms in this country. There is few thousands like me, who need a guns in their job, but others are hunters or they practise shooting as a hobby. We simply doesn't need guns for protection, because we didn't hand them over to every fool and crazy mofo at the first place, like you did.
You are in situation which allows you only suffer what is coming to you, so it is quite useless to whine every time someone have been killed by gunfire. You can't change your system even if you want to, because it is driven by forces you could not handle = overwhelming ignorance and stupidity.
