should we be free to buy bombs then?

Shouldn't people be allowed to set bombs off in the woods for recreation?
yes we should, within a respectable distance of homes/people.

With all due respect...

Monster not having a clue what the purpose of the second amendment is.

:)

You do not need bombs to overthrow an oppressive government.  Guns are sufficient.  Even a superpower as immense as the USA cannot take over their people with their 250 million guns.  Bombs in the hands of the people will not help this cause more.

You really believe that "the USA cannot take over their people"?  Come on, dude.  I have more faith in our military than that.  The military corps would straight up destroy little people with their semi-automatic 9mms.  The 2nd amendment was made during a time where the military owned muskets like every citizen and farmer.  Today, the american military is moving at such a higher, unparrelled level.

No chance.

If the US army could take over the US people, chances are they could have at least had things under control in Iraq.  Pre-Iraq I would have thought the USA could take over its own people though.  An army of 80 million people with guns would not be beaten by the US army.

Maybe you are correct.

But one of the biggest reasons we are struggling in the War in Iraq is because of home-made incenderary explosives.  Not so much because of small arm fire.  Look at the news.  228 people have been killed in the past three days because of car bombs in iraq.

And, although the military is having a difficult time keeping the iraqi people subserviant, it is pretty safe to say that the U.S. established a well planned soverign "take over."

Plus, just ask any police officer on the street.  They will tell you that their jobs would be easier, faster, safer if guns were prohibited.  It's simple common sense- less availabilty and access will hinder (not necessarly stop) most gun related incidents.

100% horse shit.  A flat out lie. Your "sense" must not be too common.

This is just the first one I found:

http://www.rkba.ca/san_diego_police_survey.html

And that is from one of the most liberal states in the country.

Pretty much every police survey in the country comes up with the same result.

Guns in the hands of citizens prevent crimes.

True...but the possibility of oppressing the US people would also be stronger.  :-\

I still own several guns, man.  I'm not giving them up unless I have to.  But if, hypotheticaly, it were to prevent the needless deaths of anyone (student, teacher, cop, killer), then I would give them up in an instant.

Thanks, bro.  I was wrong about my statement on cops support of gun control.  Mea culpa.  But I still maintain my "common sense" position on easier access to firearms.  I've bought all my guns fairly quickly.  If I had to buy them illicitly then I still could get them if I needed, but it would be a lot more difficult.  I'm not even sure how I would go about getting them if they were illegal    ???  Would I just walk around asking every peson that looked suspicious in a low-rent neighborhood?

Sorry for being harsh.  It is a bit sensitive of a subject for me.

The system failed on this guy.  The NICS backgroud check failed to see that he was once in a mental facility.  It should have.  It was a failure of the system.  However, had he been denied he would have just got one illegally.

Asking "how"  do get an illegal gun is kind of like asking how to get illegal drugs. I am not sure how either is done, but there are a lot people that are damn good at it.

yes he was a pathetic bitch..his texts where a fucking joke...like 9 year olds writings.

if he had his feet and arms removed he would have a much harder time shooting anyone. of course could have done it with his mouth still. live rats showed into his rectum eating him up from inside.

yes smash his nuts with a hammer then saw of his toes and fingers and mix em with vodka in a mixer then put the mixtur in the freezer and after they have frozen fill his every open cavity with  ice cubes of this mixture (nostrils, rectum, ears etc)

then shove his body into an elephants ass so he can die in anal solitude

With the money he spent on guns, ammo, sending stuff in to NBC, he could of gotten a hooker. Gottne laid, and been okay (possibly)

Problem is with society, where we are a "f u, it's all about me" attitude, just look at some of these myspace pages, selfish and egostical. Unfortunately, you will see a lot more Cho's in the future, people who fell "wronged" or "victimized" by this type of attitude, unless Am. society can look at itself and see that this type of attitude is wrong.

But, at the same time, if you see somebody who is weird, just leave he/she alone. Just let them be.
Cho was unfortunately one of those dudes who couldn't take being teased or rejected. But, that is life, and he couldn't deal or didn't have the coping skills to deal with life. He should have just turn the gun on himself.

You are right to a degree.

I feel sorry for the guy, although I don't condone what he did. People don't like being outcasts and with due time they think themselves on the outside looking in. I think he so far over the edge that he decided to act on it.

I think every person who has social problems or is shy has/will have feelings similar to Cho. But Cho was so far into a blackhole of loneliness that he decided to buy a glock and cap society.

When I was student teaching back in '99, there was this student who nobody liked. He would always say some off the wall mess, and kids in class would tell him to shup up, even I couldn't stand his ramblings. He wore two button up shirts everyday. I was like he was asking for attention, and it was usually negative. Well before the Columbine incident, it was found that he had plans to the school, and plan to blow up the school. His home life was a mess. His father beat the stuffing out of him, and gave his sister worst beatings because he found out that she was having sex.

I see why my student had rage at kids that didn't have his home life, but i don't condone his methods.
