HBO chief arrested for allegedly assaulting girlfriend
Chris AlbrechtHBO honcho Chris Albrecht was arrested for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend early Sunday outside the MGM Grand casino in Las Vegas.
Only hours earlier, Home Box Office, Inc. broadcast the World Boxing Council's super-welterweight championship boxing match between Oscar De La Hoya and Floyd Mayweather, Jr., held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
Police officers assigned to the sporting event reported seeing Albrecht, the chairman and chief executive of HBO, fighting with a woman identified only as his girlfriend in the valet parking area outside the casino shortly after 3 a.m., said Officer Bill Cassell, a spokesman for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
"Some of our guys observed a domestic dispute between him and his girlfriend," Cassell said. "It was a physical confrontation."
He said Albrecht was arrested and booked into the Clark County Detention Center. He held on suspicion of a misdemeanor battery-domestic assault.
