Any girl that says you would look hot with a tribal on your arm is not worth talking to in the first place.

LOL, ok, but c'mon she might be a nice girl that just likes the look of that kind of thing on guys she is attracted to. The kind of woman I have known , dated or married don't seem to go for that look.

My ex wife was a prof woman, (board cert psycholgist) and my present gf works as a VP for a major bank.
I guess I really admire and am attracted to, intelligent, ambitious woman. A couple of my young gym bro's asked me what it would take to  have me "hook 'em up" with one of those smart, career 'biatchas'.They had on the typical basball hat, goatee with moustahce and often met girls at various clubs.
I looked at him and came back with ; " Unless you do a 180 on your attire and learn how to speak with respect to a real woman, you wouldn't last 5 min with somebody I would date, stick with your teen floozys ." :o
They were like , hey man ,c'mon I am da man,etc ; after I said it. I am known as a big joker at my gym , so after I laughed , we all had a good time ribbing eachother. In the end , I think it has to do a lot with my age and interest outside the gym.
I know I was a bit of knucklehead back in the day.

I have no issue with any guy that gets his tatoos , is proud of it and could care less what others. One of the most decent guys I ever met in this game is a big, massive powerlifter , we call Hoss. Like me he is an ex-marine , but he is a LOT bigger, over 300 lbs and 6'2" with shaved head. He has a big marine tatoo and a couple others. Now he is TOUGH as hell looking, but is one of the most polite and decent guys you would ever meet.

In the end I think how a person acts and behaves is a lot more important than clothes or tatoos.

I think it all depends on the person, too, Howie. On some guys it just looks trashy. On some, they look terrific.
I have trouble more with prof BB'ers and tats-to me it seems to distract from what they are trying to achieve.

the only tatoo that would "make' you look tough are:

1. hells angels tattoos (and if you aren't a HA, they WILL skin it off)

2. black teardrops or hearts around your eye

3. hand tattoo that says "lifer"

you fool European kings, Persian kings, Hawaiian chiefs, African tribe leaders, Samoan chiefs, etc. etc. all the wealthiest of there groups and guess what have tattoos. I'm not trying to say they are for everybody and i agree some people get them for the wrong reason but don't try to put down the people that do have them. the reason tattoos are thought to be a lower standard is because criminals, slaves, and bandits were tattooed. but not because they wanted to, because they were forced to. it was the most recent and carried over to modern times. and fuck it if a tattoo means I'm an outlaw badass and you walk on the other side of the street from me. so be it i wont have to ever meet you ass in real life so i guess they paid off

Name me one european king with a tattoo. Do you think Queen Elizabeth has a tramp stamp?

Just a bunch of treehuggers.

No european needs that stupid tribe shit. We don't live in tribes and we define our rank over the pay check, and not a stupid picture on our body.

we also don't hunt our food any more, so being in peak physical condition is stupid. i guess we should stop working out. don't forget tanning is bad for your skin, better stay pale as a ghost. ::)

there is no use auguring really every one has there beliefs and in this situation there is no answer. instead people are passionate about tattoos and some hate them. i hate figure skating, and basket ball but there are some people out there who love those sports and live and die for them just my opinion not here to change minds just defend my belief.

like i said before i hate tats but I do think the face tat is kind of badass :)

why don't the guys that get tats for the sole reason to look tough get a face tat?

sure it might affect them during a job interview but these guys want to be rebels right?

In the end I think how a person acts and behaves is a lot more important than clothes or tatoos.

true but from my experience i'd say atleast 90% of the time a persons appearance matches their personality

"don't judge a book by it's cover" is bullshit :)

Idiotic response. They are more reasons to staying healthy and fit than hunting animals.

I don't tan, it's better for my skin. We can talk again when we're fifty and then you'll see that i am healthy, fit and young looking whereas you will have a stupid tattoo you thought was cool in your early 20s and bad skin from the sunbed.

If you want to get a tattoo, you should ask yourself only one question: "If i painted something that i thought was very cool on my body ten years ago, what would it be?" Face it, 10 years ago you where an idiot and most people here would have gotten a Ninja Turtles tattoo or Micky Mouse.
10 years from now you will feel the same, that is totally normal, it's called maturing and learning. If you don't you're dumb.  ;D

Hope this helps.  ;D ;D

donkey i cant argue that you make good points and maybe you'll save some one from getting a stupid horrible tattoo. Ur words however do not persuade me and I'm still happy with my decisions. i no allot of men and women in there 50-60's covered in ink and they wouldn't change it for the world all i can do is hope to be the same i may regret it or i may live a life that makes me happy at the end of the day you should do what makes you happy.

but why bother being so fit? longevity? weightlifting isn't good for your longevity and eating like a bodybuilder sure isn't. the healthiest way to live is to do cardio and bodyweight exercises while eating small meals 3 times a day. if you want to be healthy at 5'10" or so you shouldn't bulk up past 170 pounds-ish.

you lift and get ripped for vanity. that's why you do it. i get tattoos because i personally like them. like lilwoday said, your advice is 100% spot-on for the kind of idiots who get "fire" in kanji tattoo'd on them or barbed wire armbands, but i'm proud of my work. one i'm partly covering up because the artist botched it, but i'm in no way ashamed of it.

the thing is, when i'm an old saggy guy, i'm going to be ugly all over. it's not like a tattoo is going to make me more or less ugly. i heavily doubt when i'm an 85 year old man with balls down to my knees, liver spots, and saggy tits, i'll take my shirt off at the beach and people are going to say "you know he'd look good if it wasn't for that tattoo!"

the thing is i don't even know if I'm gonna live to be 80 so thats why it doesn't concern me and also when I'm that old ill just be a cool as grandpa with allot of stories to tell. life is about living and doing what you want. not getting a tattoo because it might look dumb in 40 years, well thats just stupid. this is what i plan to look like when I'm complete

why not, i like tattoos i have no desire to compete in bodybuilding and i have always wanted a body suit. you cannot tell that i have any when i wear a long sleeve shirt and as far as jobs go i have a college education, a basic medical license (EMT/paramedic) i work in the ER and surgery rooms. so if people say i must be dumb or uneducated i can show them up as well. i will try to break the stigma. and if you ask me why, i say why would anyone want to be as big as Ronnie, Ruhl, or jay. to me thats crazier and worse on your body than tattoos. people will look at you more as a freak like that then with tattoos.

I wouldn't want to look like any of the pros you mentioned nor would I want to look like the guy with the tats

I really don't think comparing bodybuilding to excessive tattoos is a good comparison

bodybuilding can be fun, challenging, physically and mentally rewarding and improve many aspects of your life

what can be said about tats other than you like the way they look?

getting a tattoo is an experience one never forgets. they become bookmarks of your life. and let me ask you what's rewarding about bodybuilding beyond liking how it makes you look? it's all vanity. someone who works out religiously and walks around in a sleeveless shirt is after attention more than someone who has a tattoo covering his back but leaves it under a t-shirt all the time.

and as for looking "different", isn't that also why we work out? because the average person is small and out of shape, so we differentiate ourselves from the pack by working out? quit acting like bodybuilders, of ALL levels, are somehow seeking attention less than people with tattoos.

it's rewarding because you get more respect from guys and more attraction from the opposite sex, makes it easier to carry those heavy grocery bags too :)

the way you look greatly influences the way people treat you and if you know you look much better than the average guy obviously you will be more confident and it will show in your body language making you a more attractive person overall

yeah you could say that a guy wearing a sleeveless shirt is out for attention but during the summer guys wearing them seems to be as common as girls wearing flip flops so is it really about attention or is it just comfortable?

yeah guys bodybuild for attention but I just think it is far more respectable than tattoos because you have to earn it, anybody can sit in a chair and let some guy jab needles into their body, and the fact that every girl that got a BMW for her 17th birthday from daddy now has a tat they aren't quite as "cool" as they were 15 years ago

i really don't think there is much of a comparison between bodybuilding and tats

if somebody is just out for attention excessive tats are an easy way to get it but like i said before they are becoming more and more common and if the trend keeps up the guy without tats will be more unique :)

muscles will never be common, it's just too hard and takes too much time 8)

I like my ink.
I got it for ME!It's not my fault your chick's digging on 'em.

I like to wear wife beaters to the gym, because it's comfortable. Not to show off.Or impress you foolish mortals.

I have a foo manchoo because it looks good. Not to intimatate people.
All I've gotta do is go BOO!Or just show/flex the posterior deltoid.

I joke. But this is no joke.If you dont like it dont look.I understand there are ALOT of dudes who are trying to hide behind all that. But not all of us who have any or all of what you've mentined. Are trying to prove or hide anything.
I've grown the f#%k up.Moved past all that tough guy crap.But I still have my ink,Foo man,harley,ect.

Howard.you seem to validate your self by the women you run with. You elevate yourself,While it may seem like a joke.At the expence of others.Put them down so you feel better.Ivy leauge educations, corvette's,bleach blondes with bolt on accesories may look classy. But it sure dosen't mean you are classy.
So you ask why....I ask you why

Or the guy who took it upon himself to as the women the club if the look works.
Your probably the "harmless guy friend" the girls hang out with. But dont drop any ass to.The guy they dress/undress in front of when they're getting ready to go out.Or they were the guys who took your money,Then stuck you in your looker.Either way.Why do you care?

It just kills me when people who have issues of they're own.Start banging on other people they have no clue about.Wether it be an armanie suit.Or a tapout tank.
Do they talk to you?
Do they threaten you?
Do they put they're hands on you?
Then who the hell are you,And what buisness is it of yours!?

If you did talk to them.you just might be surprised at what you discover.I was a drunk/drug addict,I've been to prison.I've hurt the people I love, and have done things I'm not proud of.But I'm also a loving father/husband/son.I quit drinking/drugs years ago.I'm a college student, who's working to be an R.N..
So despite the rough exterior.I'm a good person, with a good heart.
Stop,and think before you speak.
