The only thing I've ever even considered using is var, and that would be reluctantly. Last time I checked, most people got into lifting to begin with because they enjoyed lifting weights/exercise along with an addiction of some sorts that develops. Most people workout simply because they are VAIN, COMPULSIVE and are trying to fill some kind of VOID that is there in their life (I'm talking about people who have developed their physique to the point where they could compete at a local show and do decently).
I've heard all kinds of claims as to why people workout/compete/etc., but the bottom line is that it's a vain, selfish, compulsive action when performed to the extent which allows someone to compete. It's that simple. Most people don't like to think of themselves as vain/compulsive/selfish, but that's reality. There isn't really any way to sugarcoat it.
Unless your genetics/dietary habits are just HORRIBLE, there is no reason to use gear. You're not going to be the next Ronnie Coleman. Get the absolute most you can out of what you were born with, combined with busting butt in the gym and eating right and LIVE with it. If you want more than that...you are living a lie, IMO.
