  This is one of the reasons why I prefer watching the local and state level amateur bodybuilding shows on ESPN than pro shows: the level of muscle size is lower but the quality is higher and they have classically tapered physiques. The mega-anabolized pro bodybuilders have much more muscle mass but they are not as crisply detailed as that of the amateur guys and the guts ruin the overral impact of muscles overpowring the frame. What causes the visual impact of large muscles is that they overpower the frame and joints; if your gut is huge, it makes the muscles look smaller. :-\
