why not split the difference and see how you like it at caloric maintenance.
keep progressing with your weights and you will gradually lose fat and gain muscle. these are the laws of adaptation.
you won't get the benefit of increased longevity and superior relative strength, but everything has it's price, and not everybody wants to pay
