Sorry to sound negative, and I am not sure what the demographics of your area are as well as your goals, so my post could be total garbage......but in my experience the greater profit potential is not with the 'hardcore' crowd, more the 'general population.' Best of luck with your new business venture in any case
Edit, forgot my point like a idiot, but I would go for not too much of a hardcore name, in case you ever want to change your target market.
It's ok man, you're not sounding negative at all. I appreciate everything that everyone has to say. You have identified the hardest part of what I'm trying to do. The building I have found has only one gym around and it is the one I worked at. It caters to people that have money, charges $45/month and have this high tech garbage called the "Bodybug," which is owned by Apex. The building I'm going after is a few minutes from downtown and is surrounded by mostly middle class families. I basically want to open something affordable that is welcome to EVERYONE, especially people that want results. The challenging part will be the marketing and getting the point across that you DON'T have to be big to workout there. The last thing I want is for people to say, "you have to be a bodybuilder to go there." Although that would be cool, it's simply not viable because I would have no members. So I want a name that gets the point across. It's a gym where you go to train hard and reach your goals. That's it. Although I am gonna have pics of Arnold and others up on the walls. lol.
