For those of you who pay attention to what everyone around you is doing/not doing, lifting/not-lifting, pulling/not pulling, pushing/not pushing in the gym, WHY do you care?

Why do you care what someone else is wearing?

Why do you care if someone uses a belt?

Why do you care if someone else is stronger than you?

Why do you care if someone else is in better shape than you?

Why do you care if someone looks better than you?

Why can't you go to the gym and be focused on what you are doing instead of what everyone else around you is or isn't doing and what they do or don't look like?

Just wondering...you know who you are...

what ya'll need to understand is..
egg-o-croucher has never been distracted and has never performed so much as a single rep that wasn't 100% effective

What someone else does or doesn't do at the gym has zero bearing on your workout unless they are hindering your ability to get done what you need to/want to get done.

None.

I feel sorry for people who go to the gym and are absorbed with what everyone else is doing. I have never understood it.

he has to be, what with weighing a whopping 125#'s he needs to focus all he can if he wants to get to 130#

If some guy is wearing a fanny pack or lugging around a gallon of water if affects my workout. I don't want to train in the same gym with those type of people!

As long as it is clean I am happy. IN the gym I have no cares. Certain dress types help me get a glimpse of the status of that person outside the gym

Why do you care if someone uses a belt?
Never care, it is their choice to use as they feel necessary.

Why do you care if someone else is stronger than you?
This can give you a goal and if close in weights be healthy competition. There is no reason to downplay their abilities.

Why do you care if someone else is in better shape than you?
I think it is great they are in shape and if I didn't pay attention I couldn't congratulate them. No reason to be petty and say they have ab skin etc.

Why do you care if someone looks better than you?
I like to be the best looking in my environment, I always size that up. If somebody is better looking I give them props. I think looks are a
valuable asset

The gym has people around and is very social. I say get the small talk and comparisons out of the way in the beginning or after training.

You're back to this again? Get a life dude. Why do you care that people notice things in the gym? It's called peripheral vision and normal hearing. People can see out of the corner of their eyes and hear some dude grunting at the top of his lungs or when his weight almost hit them when he said douche drops them. Get over it.

Swole, you're about the only person in this thread with any sense so far.

Danielson, people carrying around water OUTSIDE of the gym cracks me up every time. I was in the grocery store the other night and this guy (160 pounds soaking wet, probably 5'9") had a gallon of water with him at the checkout in front of me. He was drinking out of it. He sat it on the floor and started to pay. The cashier thought he forgot to pay for it. He told the cashier he brought it with him, as he has to drink at least a "gallon and a half a day" because he's a "bodybuilder"...it was everything I could do to keep from laughing.

People that pay $1.50 for a bottle of water is another thing that amazes me, but I won't get into that.
