hahah, I feel so left out. I want a generator!! I could put in the roof of my building and string down a wire through my window. Then the next blackout in NYC I will have lights! But what if someone steels my generator? 
Portable generator thefts were very common in FL a couple years ago during the hurricanes. The thieves would break into backyard sheds and garages and steal any generator in plain sight. Residents were warned to conceal generators when they were not in use.
• at one point, power was out for 14 days and the local cities installed generators at major intersections to power the traffic signals. Overnight the thieves would steal the city installed generators and the intersections were without power. The cities had to install new generators and bolt them into the concrete or put locks on them. Some even had a police guard.
• there was one story in the local newspaper and on TV about a man who purchased a generator at Lowe’s. As he was in the parking lot and about to put it in his car he was robbed at knife point. He had to go home and tell his wife that someone stole the generator before he could bring it home.
