I'm really trying to achieve the body of that guy from the Bowflex commercial.

You know the one where some guy in a shirt's standing by the pool and two hot ladies are looking at him, and the background voice says "come on, don't be afraid to take it off". Then he takes it off and he has an amazing physique.

Is that achievable with the bowflex?

that's the name. I knew someone here is quite fond of the contraption and it sells very well. I wonder if it's due to massive advertising or if it actually works?

people who are not serious lifters like it a lot. my 50 year old neighbor swears by his. they sell a lot of those things and those who own them really seem to like them.

That guy in the commercial's in his mid-40s and uses a Bowflex + 400 lb. of Olympic weights/bars/bench.

with perfect nutrition it is possible....no different than weights....resistance is resistance, your body does not know the
difference between free weights, cables, bands, kettleballs, etc etc

I had a bowflex...they say its real weight...its not!

They were equating the power rods to equaling the same amount of weights....50-350 pounds on the power rod isnt the same as a 50-350 pound on barbells/dumbbells.

I wasnt getting enough of as challenge on it so I sold mine. It was pretty much a waste of money that should have been used on a gym membership... not to mention it took a lot of space in my apartment

exactly, the guys in the commercials had their physiques before bowflex was invented, but it can
still be acheived

i have used one before, i just think free weights are more versitile and not as boring

The resistance sometimes varies from free weight, which really doesn't matter as long as there is progression in relative resistance used. As far as it being "boring" nah, some prefer it to weights it depends entirely who is asked.

Lots of guys give up on them because they don't have enough resistance needed for legs, and don't buy any extra.

A Bowflex and some free weights gives a lot of exercise options. Re: versatility it's actually more versatile for the space.

He has an impressive physique overall, as does the other guy that i was referring to. Better than most on here commenting about it i'm quite sure.

Still can't do pull-ups like you could on the Soloflex with any Bowflex or Total Gym.

Everyone isn't going to be a bodybuilder and most people simply want to stay in shape without having to fight traffic to get to a gym. Soloflex has been retuning their machines and now they all come standard with WBV devices (whole body vibration) and can now use Olympic Plates

Check out more info at www.soloflex.com. They are still in the game folks and its still an 100% American Made machine.
