after a workout what would you recomend to relax and ease the tension

The Sauna, Hot Tub or Steam Room??

Bases on what I read its Hot Tub or Sauna. The source I read called steam rooms a waste of time. Wasnt sure what to think so wanted to ask the board for suggestions.

My gym doesnt have a steam room. sauna is nice, especially in the winter. not sure what it does for ease of tension, but it sure feels good

yeah i never liked the idea of getting dehydrated post workout... but i do occasionaly use the sauna for stretching

yeah, for stretching it would be good.

after i scrup my body underneath the hot water; i always turn it to ice cold. closes up the pores and makes for better looking skin....also i feel refreshed, and awake after doing so.

Saunas and steam rooms are great but I would go for the hot tub as I've heard it can help increase testosterone levels. Not sure if the other two do as well but if they do, then all the better.

never use public hot tubs... most gyms that had them have torn them out the risk of infection is far to high

Sauna's are the only ones I know of that have clear health benefits.

The heat increases blood flow, and helps the body recover, great to do after workout, make sure to drink water though.

The heat also manages to kill off slight infections.

Agree.

Having worked in health clubs, I can tell you that you could not pay me to get in a gym hot tub.

Recently my hot water system broke so for the last few days I've been having cold baths. My ass still feels numb.

Isn't it dangerous to run cold water on a hot body with opened pores?

You definitely remember totally wrong. There has never even been a pic of guy posted and said it was me as a joke or anything, it's been pretty well known I'm a chick here for years. If anyone still thinks I am a guy, I must come across totally fruity hanging all over the girls fitness board, talking about makeup at times etc...haha

Actually I never post pics, I am semi low key like that...I avoid cameras more than I avoid the seated calf machine and that's saying something. There is a crappy pic of me floating around the getbig pm network though, unfortunately I have a peculiar looking smirky smile in it, but it could be worse I guess
