For the last time, and this is the last time I mentioned that I have squatted using different types of equipment. I shuffle my squatting motions around as I like change. The squatting motions that I do are the king squat (shown), smith machine squat, barbell squat, I also include leg presses on the 45 degree angle and the inverted leg press.

Each movement is done either very deep or above parallel, it really depends on what I'm aiming for. I have never been a pure bodybuilder, I consider myself more of a power/strength athlete personally.

That lift wasn't done all the way down, but it definitely helped increase leg size and overall explosive power.

I have been training for 18 years, over that time I have

I have rock bottom barbell squatted 500lbs for 5 reps with a pause at the bottom

Smith machine rock bottom (with spot) 700+ for 4 reps

Smith machine slightly above parallel around 1000lbs for 4 reps (16 plates on the bar, 2 plates added to the middle of the bar or on a dipping belt, and a person standing on the stack).

Barbell squat above parallel 855lbs x 4, 675 x 20 above parallel.

Stifflegged deadlift 535 x 8 reps

All done at a body weight of 205-220lbs.

Except it and move on...

How is it you squat so much above parallel yet you only get 500 for 5 in the hole. How does that work?   ??? 855 for 4 almost 400lbs over what you do to the grass and that's all you get with 500?! Either you got royally fucked in the genetic dept. or your above parallel is a vague description of where your'e stopping at.

I agree.  IMO, that machine is 100% useless.  The only thing it is good for is making non lifters and 140 lbs heros :o in amazement.  Its all an illusion or should I say delusion.  ;D

Exactly!!   I see so many clowns load that machine with plates, stomp around, growl and then jump underneath for a set of 4 with 16 plates.   Then they head to the hack squat and max out with 2 plates a side.    Only once did I use that machine....just to give it a run.   I loaded it with 14 plates and easily moved the weight several times before callin that myth officially "busted".

AHAHAHAAHHAHAHAAHAHAHA!!!!!!   I hate to say it, but this sounds like dogshit   I'll grant you the 500lb squat for 5 and I'd even concede 550-575lbs squat on a Smith, but after that is garbage.

That 1800 is a lot of weight but, from the photo, the way the weight is dispensed he is not moving a true 1800. Leverage is on his side, something like lifting a wheelbarrow with 200lbs of cement bags in it. Compare this to lifting that 200lbs of bags off the ground without that leverage. Or putting a crowbar under a heavy object you want to raise, with that crowbar resting on a 4X4 near that object. I have seen that type of machine  in a lot of football training room and is used a lot. Mainly for short burst leg drives. But it does not compare to the old fashion BB squat for leg power and all around condition. The BB squat (and Dl) is still king.

That extra loaded BB must be at lease 2/3's distance from the actual lifting platform, giving it less a  true force (weight) to deal with. Pics or video's never tell the whole story of anything when it comes to lifting (this goes for BB'ing pic's also). Now if the Bro squated or DL's 1800, that would be impressive. Or at least have a pic of him standing straight up or a video of him holding that top position for 3 seconds or so.

Seriously doubt any one will squat 1800 but who knows. Benches are getting near or over the 1000lb mark. Paul Anderson (in the '50) squated around 1000+ in regular workout. True or not, I do not know but his legs and hips looked like they could move a tank. Seen power rack workouts where guy supported 1100 but only doing 1/8" travel distance, at best. Lifting is more than 50% mental anyway. Nice to see what happens in the future of PL'ing.

yep. it's crazy, he's done i think two powerlifting meets so far and his raw total is over 2000. in competition he's benched 600, squatted 826 or so, and deadlifted i believe somewhere in the 700s. so that'd be what, 2126? unreal.
