Prescriptions & Pharmacies
« on: September 04, 2007, 10:33:24 AM »
Anyone work in a pharmacy and know how this works?

i'm in Canada (keep that in mind) might be a little different in the system.

let's Say doctor prescribes me "ABC"
and i go on to make a copy of the prescription paper, change the date stamped on the paper, (photoshop)
all while keeping his signature and the other stuff exact, and have it pass at the pharmacy.

do they follow up with the doctors to see exactly what was prescribed, to who and when...?
or do they just take your prescription sheet, and disregard that once you've made the purchase and they don't follow up to see if it was legit.

reason is, with work insurance covering 80% of the cost, i get it at a much lower price than "black market" or "contacts" ...and the Doctor is gonna sooner or later stop me, or get annoyed if i keep asking for the same things all the time...etc..etc.

just wanted some input on that possible scenario.
peace

I was wondering about that two, can you use a copy of a docs prescrition for an on line pharmacy ( no insurance involved) and still get it filled at your local pharmacy. Is there some database that knows if you used the same prescrption  twice? I would think so otherwise peeps would be double filling their pain meds.

yeah, i mean obviously it's not gonna be to the point where i start up my own black-market warehouse, i just would like double sometimes of what's prescribed....etc

i know forgery is a crime none the less, but just nice to know what the system is for those things.

my wife is a pharmacist, and according to her:

if you are "established" at your pharmacy, and you've gotten the same prescription before, they won't call the doctor to check.

if however, you double your dose, and it looks smudged, they will call him for sure.

you might want to see what the threshold is, meaning if the limit on abc is say 5 ml, and you have 6 on there, they will call to check.

so...it's a gamble.  you need the pharmacist to : not care, not check up on it, and be dumb.

i'd say just talk to your doctor and have him sign you up for more.  coming up with an excuse for why is your job.

I had a friend who did this and guess what, he got caught.

Each prescripton forged was a felony.  He was charged with 9 felonies, including the false pretense charge.

Don`t be stupid.

I'm with Paul Allen, listen to his advice. I work at a pharmacy as well (pharm tech) and for every prescription the pharmacist has a hard time reading, we immediately contact the doctor for clarification and to double check. THere are a few factors to consider here. (In the U.S.)

What the drug you want more of is, I'm assuming you're after controlled drugs...painkillers? If so, they are strictly accounted for...your plan will immediatley fail. THink about it, you're not the first person who has ever tried to come up with a plan like this and pharmacists and techs will call the doc if there is any doubt. A pharmacist goes to school for 7 years and will not risk that time they put in by overlooking a prescription. Without inside knowledge of either what goes on at a MD's office or pharmacy, you will not be able to screw the system and get more drugs.

As far as the prescription paper itself, here in the U.S. some MD's have special paper that cannot be photocopied but most of the rx's I see are on just plain old stationery with the MD's phone, address, and DEA number.

Your best bet to get more drugs is to make an appointment with your doc and talk with him, honestly and openly. I see patients that are addicted to painkillers all the time. Some with histories of being on a controlled drug for years, so obviously the MD is prescribing it to them to keep the patient happy.

Thanks for all the responses.

Im gonna give them off to someone who says he's good friends with a pharmacist, and he assures me the pharmacist will let them pass (without follow-up) if they look legit enough.

But we are talking about on line pharmacies not Duane Reade.

The question is about on-line pharmacies ...will they bother to call your doctor? Is there a way for them to know if you already filled it at your local pharmacy?. Is there some national database?

I figure that some on-line pharmacies especially abroad are just in it for the money and as long as they have a copy of the prescription they will fill it....true?

If I were you I wouldn't be involved in the shit at all. Say your friend gets caught with the juice (it happens) and then the police check up on the doctor and the pharmacists records. all sorts of people will be fucked. The pharmacist would be stupid to put his career in jeopardy like that.

it's more for Arimidex and other things...

it's usually a medication used to treat breast-cancer...dont think there's much of a crackdown on that.
Possibly other things like Lasix, Aldactone...other diuretics.
