well, your body CAN store excess protein as fat.
you will hear this several times here at getbig. its trendy to dismiss very high protein diets.
i used to think, because this is what i was told, that your body only digests what it can use for muscle repair, and the rest is excreted. but, the consensus on this site seems to be that your body does not limit the amount of digested protein that it sends into the blood stream...that you could have 100 or so grams of broken down protein molecules (i believe the correct term for this is "peptide" but im not sure). if this is the case; then you COULD indeed store excess protein as body fat.
BUT.. if your are an individual who is constantly in the gym, constantly has muscles in need of tissue repair, constantly sore...i do believe that it would be virtually impossible to eat an excess amount of protein to be stored as body fat. ...i mean; your body is going to use any available protein in the blood stream to repair broken down muscle tissue before it will store any as fat.. so as long as you have a sore muscle, you should be fine.
my guess, is that if your body were to store any as fat, the result would be a totally repaired muscular system; and then a bit of stored body fat. but i have never been able to get rid of all my muscle soreness with one meal.
.....to other getbig posters who mgiht want to contradict me..... notice i said this was my opinion, this is what i was guessing was true, and that i was not sure of this. just what seems to make sense to me.
