"    “He [Andrei Arlovski] is losing a tremendous amount of money. He relies on fighting to maintain a living…. We’re ready to fight whenever they ask. We believe we have a very good relationship with the UFC and Dana. I won’t talk about what was said because it was confidential. We haven’t declined any offers to fight…. We have a contract with the UFC. We’re not going anywhere. We have no other options. Our option is to fulfill our contract. The UFC is our employer. Dana White is our boss. As far as I’m concerned, we’ve been very good and loyal employees for the last seven years. Whenever the boss calls, we’re here to talk or fight.'’

Leo Khorolinsky — an adviser for former UFC champion Andrei Arlovski — indicates via the Chicago Sun Times that his client is losing out on big money while negotiations continue on a contract extension. “The Pitbull” has not competed since April 2007 and has one fight remaining on his current deal that expires in April 2008. Both sides haven’t talked in three weeks."

"welterweight contender Jon Fitch (15-2) has been approached about fighting Akihiro Gono (27-12-7) at UFC 82 at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio, on March 1.

Fitch will fight on the card; however, Gono is not a lock to be his opponent at this time. Our sources indicate that the Fitch camp is working hard to line up a showdown with Karo Parisyan instead. That fight makes the most sense in terms of clearing up the 170-pound log jam. "

Penn Has More Choice Words For Sherk, Talks UFC Future

“If he’s gonna sit there and say this is a fake belt, he just tested positive for steroids, so what more can I say?” asked Penn, who did let fly with both barrels on Sherk during the UFC Fight Club Q&A.

“I don’t want to do the five fights a year thing for three years and then I’m done, like all these fighters have done,” he said. “I want to do one to two fights a year for the next ten years. I want to keep my name out there for the next ten years.”

"The Ultimate Fighting Championship has re-signed middleweight contender Yushin Okami to a new contract sources close to the fighter confirmed to MMAWeekly.com.

There was much speculation about Okami’s future with the promotion after his last fight – a bout against Jason MacDonald that was widely regarded by fans as a No. 1 contenders match in the 185-pound weight class – was shelved to the prelims of UFC 77.

The Japanese fighter, a veteran of many promotions including Pride and K-1, was on the last fight of his previous contract when he defeated MacDonald. Despite rumors that Okami was fleeing the promotion, the UFC has negotiated a new deal with the fighter.

Okami’s name was conspicuously left out of the contenders list when UFC president Dana White spoke at the post-fight press conference at UFC 77, leading many to believe he would not return to the Octagon.

In his time with the UFC, Okami has amassed an impressive 5-1 record with his only loss coming to former middleweight champ Rich Franklin. He currently holds a disqualification win over 185-pound divisional king Anderson Silva, which makes a future match-up between the two an interesting bout.

After his last fight and his contract expiration, rumors circulated that Okami would appear on K-1’s New Year’s Eve card, but his new deal obviously puts those rumors to rest. "

"King of the Cage light heavyweight champion James Lee trades the cage for the Octagon, signing with the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He will debut at UFC 80 in New Castle, England against Alessio Sakara.

Following his eleventh fight in KOTC, a successful title defense against Hank Barela, Wednesday night in Mt. Pleasant, Mich., Lee announced to the crowd that he was leaving for the UFC.

Of his fight with Sakara, Lee stated, “It means a chance to prove that I am the best in the world. I am extremely excited to meet the fans in England. They seem wonderful and very supportive of the sport.”

Lee (13-2-0) hasn't been defeated in more than four years. He has reeled off nine straight victories without a loss.

Alessio Sakara (11-6-0) is coming off a TKO loss to Houston Alexander at UFC 75 in September. "

The following is an excerpt from an interview with MMA pound for pound king Fedor Emelianenko:

STV: Who would you like to fight?

Fedor: I would like to fight champions in other MMA organization like Randy Couture, Gabriel Gonzaga and champions of UFC, Cage Rage and IFL etc.
