The Censoring of 240

As per the Board Rules, I believe the topic of censorship is an appropriate subject for this Board,
so I'd like to discuss what I believe to be the censoring of 240.

I believe the way he was responded to by a moderator (Beach Bum) on this board was wholely innappropriate. His further insistence on moving 240's posts off the board and into the "Complaints" board is a form of censorship, and curtailment of any discussion.

A discussion was called for within the board on the topic of moderator etiquette,
yet the very same moderator (Beach Bum) chose to cut off all discussion, and move the topic elsewhere,
on more than one occassion, with not even the courtesy of a link, for those who might have interest.

I'd like to hear what the readers & posters of THIS board feel about the way this was handled.
If I wanted to hear how the readers & posters of the "Complaints Board" feel about it, I would have posted it there for those readers to read & comment on, ...but I post it here to gather the opinions of the readers, and contributors to this board (The Political Board).

Do the readers here feel it is appropriate for a mod to lower the level of discussion through ad hominem attacks, and childish attempts to belittle worthwhile contributors? If so... how? If not, ...why not?

I guess it comes down to one's principles,and code of conduct ...which can be summed up as one's Politics no?

If I was lodging a complaint with Ron, I am well aware of how to reach him to do so.

I along with Rob, am calling for a discussion of the topic within the Political board, for the benefit and contribution of readers & posters to the Political board. A "Discussion" and a "Complaint" are two different things entirely.

These rules were created by the Political Board mods, and only apply to the Political Board, correct?
IIRC, these rules were made HERE, after much discussion HERE, and applied to HERE.


All I asked for is a condemn/condone vote by members.  Much like the recent vote in Congress, 76-12 I believe) to condemn the MoveOn.org advertisement.  In the Politics board, we use a set of rules and I wished to introduce a piece of legislation to amend this set of rules.  In America, the President cannot move new pieces of Congressional legislation to the UN.  Congress has a process for approving/denying the passage of said legislation.

I believe that a condemn/condone policy is a good way to eliminate debate distraction techniques such as insults and red herrings.  Even a short list of 3 to 5 wholly accepted tactics which the majority of members agree upon, could aid in providing som "peer encouragement" to make the debates more conductive and successful.  I guess we could have seen if the majority of members agreed, but they never had a chance, as the newly introduced Political Board legislation was moved to Siberia for consideration.

The politics forum isn't the house of commons

I'd assume the political forum rules are just some extra clarifications and are still under the umbrella rules of the Getbig forums.

Doesn't say anything of the political forum being exempt of the general rules of the Getbig forums.

The style of "well, a dem did this in 1962, so what's the big deal if..."

Sounds like a regular John Adams, crying foul when the obvious is pointed out, then reverting to outburts. Good ol' Alien and Sedations Act.

So long as he posted in the thread itself, and replied to your statement, I think no matter what is was about (I saw it was over politics though) it should have stayed put.

   My goodness.  This is ridiculous.  But to be consistent with Berserker, I will sticky this for a day and then move it to the Complaints Board where it belongs.  

240 quit acting like a little woman already.  I could probably pull about 100 posts containing insults from you, some of a very personal nature.  But because this is a freakin message board and we don't know each other, I really don't care.  If you have such a problem with being insulted, then don't throw stones.  I never initiate stuff with you.  It's always a response.

Telling a man he is acting like a woman isn't sexist, just like telling a woman she is being rather manish isn't insulting men. 

Some women tend to be very sensitive.  Hypersensitive even.  A man who starts whining like you is acting like a woman IMO.  Take that however you choose.  If you want to act like a thin-skinned woman, then don't start the insults.  If you start them and someone like me responds, quit crying already.  Geeze.  Aren't you embarrassed?
