yeah but it does total weight I don't think it takes into consideration muscle does it? it has a preprogram'd ideal for your height and then decides how much fat is on you percentage wise if you're heavier than the ideal I guess right?! How does it measure water, muscle tissue, etc.?!?!

We have the same/similar device at my gym.
The hand sensors measure pulse and, apparently, as PL mentioned, temperature and hydration levels on the skin surface.
You must manually enter your height, weight, and age.
I believe the device then takes that information and performs a mathematical formula to compute your body’s
ideal BMI and compares it to what (it claims) you actually are according to the sensor-read info.
Like you, I’m not sold on the idea that the gizmo can measure and/or distinguish fat from muscle.
And if it truly does, then I fail to see why you have to submit all of the other info.
Or maybe I’m just in denial because that little prick says my BF% is way higher than I want it to be.
