What the hell is "clean food" anyway? I do know what you mean, but there's really no such thing.

The main reason so-called junk food makes you fat is because it's easier to eat more calories that way. The converse is true for so-called clean foods.

BTW, junk food won't lower testosterone. The opposite is probably true. Actually lowering fat intake below 20-30% of calories will lower testosterone.
i guess my definition clean food would be lean proteins, low gi carbs, and healthy fats. ...foods that actually serve a bodybuilder with a purpose.

I know this short black dude, who's probably juicer, eat loads of junk in front of me.. He's always ripped and at low bf, with huge full muscle bellies. Is he clean? Not with his size and epic 185 lb bb rows, but he's got insane genes.

Lockett is the same. Of course I don't think he's natural. But is he a freak in terms of being able to get away with things? Probably.

Most peope I see getting notably ripped come down from a bloatier build.

For example, I actually think Adonis would be best served for the next Mr. Getbig by allowing himself to go up some more before cutting back down.  Like, if he's been under 170 all this time, I'm thinking he'd be best served by at least allowing himself to eat his way up to 180-185 before coming back down.

Okay, let me show you an example since you mentioned the GI. The GI of table sugar is "low". The GI of rice or a baked potato is much higher. Is table sugar a better carb source than the "clean foods" I mentioned IYO?

Nah, I'm simply "thinking out loud" here.  The input is very appreciated.  Dude it's possible to get lost in theory and lose touch with reality thinking too much about this stuff.  Yeah I've been exposed to and tried alot of stuff but shit it helps to give other people the opportunity to help get you grounded again.  I do wanna see Candidizzle's pics though when he's trying to tell me that cravings for junk food are just mental machinations.  The craving for junk is REAL and I'm certain it has a physiological basis.  Perhaps when you're first starting out you need incredibly dense calories to serve your growth needs.  That's what I'm saying here.  Going back into the gym I witness daily, sometimes hourly changes in my physique after having been doing it all this time and I bet your body likes having  plenty of nutrition there to allow it to accomplish whatever it's ready to (at least in the beginning.)

What I do is get stuck in a rut thinking that if I can't do everything 100% balls-out that I'd might as well not try anything.  That's the mentality I'm trying to break out of.

Michael Lockett told me he eats 3 chicken/rice meals per day, and in between them all, he eats whatever he wants.  Snickers, ice cream, potato chips, etc.  Think that'd be a good diet to follow?  If not for precontest, what about offseason?  I mean if you're gonna get in all the chicken and rice meals, you can't eat too much of the other or else you're never gonna be able to stomach it.  I think I may try this approach for awhile as I get back into my training.

why are you so insecure mr? after so many years in bodybuilding?

I was thinking about this.  Wether to now start bulking, or try to gain clean muscle over the next year.

Is it really possible to gain the same amount of muscle eating a clean diet rather than bulking up?

The way I see it, bulking is "safer" in terms of knowing that you're gaining muscle because your eating heaps, instead of risking not getting enough calories from clean food.

So I guess it does make sense to take the middle road and eat some junk food in between clean meals, to help with getting sufficient calories and also the cravings of the foods you like.

Yes it works very well if you are active and wanting to gain muscle... That's what I do all offseason... 3 clean meals of chicken, tuna, or steak and the rest is whatever I want.. usually Baconaters from Wendys and pizza. lol. Try it.. it works. No pros eat "clean" like they say they do all year round. That's bullshit. The ONLY one that I believe eats clean a majority of the time now is Cutler because he's a fucking maniac like that. In his earlier days when he was my age (22) he lived off pizza and protein shakes.. that came straight from his mouth.

IMO any diet that has alot processed "foods" or empty calories is not good BBing or not......it's like pouring salt into a gas tank, eventually it stops running effeciantly.
