Branch is pretty hardcore.

I've seen him do dips with CHAINS over his neck.

I don't think anyone did that before?

Sorry, but have you ever read about his training philosophies? Any article of his about training?  70 kilos bent-over rows doesn't qualify in my book as 'hardcore' for a guy his size and THAT hormonized. :-\

This is bodybuilding, NOT powerlifting... it's about how you lift the weight, NOT how much weight you lift.

dying is easy

the hard part is to live with the guilty conscience of countless ownings on getbig

every night i wake up in sweat, hearing the cries of the lost souls who died battling it out with me on here and sealing their fate

This dialogue is very reminiscent of the movie Troy where Achilles and Patroclus are having a talk right before a large battle in which Achilles decided to not partake in, Achilles tells Patroclus, "At night I sometimes see them. The faces of the men I killed. They're waiting for me on the far bank of the River Styx. They say, "Welcome, brother."

I agree - I also read he did 50 lb dumbells for lateral raises and 30's for rear laterals.

he ain't powerlifter - i think.
if you are moving huge weights by form that johnnie jackson uses....i think that's not hardcore...You can't even recognize what movement he is doing because of that lousy style he lifts.
in bb being hardcore probably means more than moving your arms 2 inches while standing completely straight and claim you are doing bent over rows with this huge amount of weight....more like shrugs with baby-weights for that exercise

Well...anyway you cut it, 70 kg barbell-rows aren't hardcore at all for a pro bodybuilder if we are discussing training. If he was using this poudage on a superset, barbell rows being the second exercise on rotation I can see why only 70 kg and respect that.

Having said that I agree with you. This is bb, not pl. But still, the loads are important. If they weren't any pro could use infant weights and grow like weed. But they don't. That's why you will keep seeing them trying to use heavier weights from time to time. Progressive overload is the name of the game, and increasing the weight per se is one of the ways.

Completely agree with you. JJ form is garbage. Same with Branch, although his is a little bit less shitty.

What we, as bodybuilders, have to try to find is a happy medium place, where we can overload our muscles using proper form with the right amount of weight, but not a weight that is infantile or too easy, nor an enormity of load, which forces you to look like the notredame hunchback while doing bent over rows. 70 kg for Roland, if used on straight sets, were definitely a walk in the park, even if he paused for 10 seconds each rep at peak contraction.
