I'm not going to get into this to much because I have spent hours of my life I will never get back talking about it in the past...buuuutttt....
There is disagreement in Plame's covertness....her 'ol man's trip is questionable seeing how it was his wife that sent him....and I don't know what if any role the pres and VP had in it. I will watch the news and see what comes of it before making conclusions...
as far as them being treasonists?
Treason is any attempt to overthrow the government or impair the well-being of a state to which one owes allegiance; the crime of giving aid or comfort to the enemies of one's government
Don't see how anyone did either of those things...
There is no disagreement about her covert status. She was covert. CIA: Plame Was "Covert"
http://uspolitics.about.com/b/2007/05/30/cia-plame-was-covert.htmThere is no question about the validity of her husband's trip. Whether his wife recommended him for the assignment is entirely irrelevant to the outing of Mrs. Plame's secret identity.
§ 2381. Treason: (US Code) Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.
Exposing the identity of a covert spy working on WMD proliferation in the middle east during a time of war with middle eastern factions is not treasonous to you?
You may be right. It depends.
But how does exposing a covert spy's identity during a time of war--a war predicated on controlling WMDs of middle eastern countries--serve the nation's interest?
