Day to Day Protein Intake
« on: November 30, 2007, 12:17:45 PM »
Hey everyone;

I recently started a 5 x 5 and so far I'm loving it.  (MY GOAL IS TO GAIN MORE MUSCLE), I'm not too worried about my body fat, as its fairly low...around 10% i would imagine.  Anybody here lift 3x per week, and if so, how do you vary your protein intake on off days?

On workout days, I make sure to get the grams of protein i take in to equal my bodyweight (in pounds); i.e. 200g for 200pounds.

My question is: Do you fellas try to get just as much on off days, or is it ok to have a little less, ect.

Thanks

jondy

You should try to take in the same amount everyday. Your muscle are still recovering and in need of protein even on days you don't workout.

Your itake should remain constant every day. Try to take in 1-2 grams per pound of bodyweight.

What do you consider the best source of protein?
I look specifically at salmon as the primary base and back fill from there...
1. Salmon
2. Ribeye
3. lean deermeat
4. Turkey
5. Ham
6. Link sasuage(3 for breakfast and my raw eggs 5)

Push two weeks with high intake of proteins then
1 and 1 1/2 week of high concentration of carbs
1/2 week isolation of combination...

Wtf that's an odd list. Salmon will make you fat, chicken and eggs are still the best sources of protein.

Yeah some funny choices u got there. Personally id go tuna over salmon, and id  replace ham with chicken. Cant go wrong with chicken. As for deermeat and link sausages, i dont know what they are, but personally, i just stick with tuna, beef and chicken.
No doubt about it...

I don't agree that salmon will make you fat, assuming its wild salmon, a moderate portion and prepared correctly.

Web..
deermeat ..very very low in fat...like kangaroo..except not as tough... young doe in the processor can and does make great meat without going to the meatmarket.... the deer meat can be processed into link sasuage... again high protein....

salmon..wild is best and cut selection as well equally important...

ham... I just get tired of chicken... somedays..taste wins...

variety in a solid protien diet is important as well as balance... but there are great meats out there outside of base givens of tuna, chicken.... amberjack is great as well for that matter...

salmon is awesome if it doesnt have too much fat, even though its all healthy fat. eggs are filled with arachidonic acid and choletsrols that will both greatly improve your mass gains, and the high fat content wont be anything too worry about since you only eat eggs in the morning(or at least most people will only eat eggs in the morning)..  red meat(beef) provides a ton of muscle building nutrients besides just protein, just keep it lean meat...

stay away from the turkey, stay away from those link sausages. they are at polar opposites of the protein spectrum, and you should avoid both extremes. no processed/ high fat meats like sausage and bacon, and no estrogenic preoteins like turkey and tofu
