Hi everyone
I jumped into the show, I have never really competed as a middleweight before but wanted to give it a shot, since i was in shape from the nationals. Never really trained or planned on doing the contest, but wanted to test the waters since, im going to be competing as a welterweight, which is from 154lbs to 165.
At the Excaliber they only had a middlweight class that went form 154-176. But I knew I could be competetive and do really good. The one problem is i ran into a really good Light heavyweight, whom I have always liked and actually given alot of advise about conditioning etc to him.
He always had great size, symetry, etc. with good proportions but conditioining wasnt great. But good enough to win several overalls. Check out his contest resume. So, he dropped down to 176 and looked great. He was hard, dry and looked great. And my legs were really ripped, but they were hard to hold up next to his huge wheels. Thats really were he naied me. He has the legs of a lightheavy.
I didn't even think I had a chance against him. I weighed 162lbs. But I battled hard, and gave it my all. Untill the night show, there was no clear winner amongst the fans or our friends etc. I think, we both did great. it was a great test for me. I am now a welterweight and it took a long while to figure it out, but thats were I need to be. I did great against this awesome middleweight and the rest of the class to place second, but I will be competing at the nationals as a welter.
For me, I think i did the best I could that night. I really did, but no excuses here guys, but Im tired! i really am. I have been dieting and in shape so long, my body is tired. I feel it, It was a long ride for me this year. I was ready a few weeks before nationals and here it is a few weeks after.
My legs feel like they are getting worn from the cardio, diet etc. I need some food, and some reast. I stayed in shape all year and dieted a long long time.
Check out the resume of Robert Harris, hes a great competitor and will do some serious damage as a middleweight in the future. he is a great competitor, but I would love to compete against him in the future. He outweighed me by 15lbs but I would like to go against him again with just six or seven lbs and see what happens. Thanks guys for looking out for me. Alex a
