he would have had ten people running up the stairs to plug him as he crouched.

Remember, guns aren't bad. People are. The guy could have stabbed ten people just as easily. An armed society is a polite society.

And there would likely be more dead. Additionally, aside from the street thugs out there, most people don't have the courage to kill someone.

240 is right though, a gun isn't bad, it's a hard heart that kills.

You're not talking about well trained shooters here and bullets have to go somewhere, not always in the bad guys. You're also just basing this on the fact that people could bring themselves to shoot another person.

exactly - 30 different shooters, all in various stages of panic, most probably shooting at each other or just hitting innocent bystanders

Yes, but in close prox, ten bullets, one will hit close.

and yeah, some people won't fire. But some will. And knowing that he couldn't "go out in style" as his suicide note read, this 19-year old fired from McD for stealing $17 might have chosen another place

I have no problem with guns, gun ownership etc... but I don't think letting just anyone walk around with a gun is going to prevent shit like this and the downside is pretty huge. The average person is not trained to safely engage in gun fight.

I agree and don't think that is the issue here. I think these are isolated incidents of idiots with guns. That being said, many military and police personnel are poor shots and to entrust an average joe who took a CCW class to take down an assailant is asking a bit much.

Actually I don't think there is a solution and I really don't care (I don't live there).

I think Americans are pretty backward in a lot of ways so there will continue to be gun related violence one way or another. Let people have their guns if they like them, it doesn't affect me.
