God damn it Teamsters! Stop making this a arnold vs The Huge One thread! aussiepro you too! are you stupid, why compare the 2. Its different era.

The Huge One comes close to Arnold, The Huge One is one of the best bodybuilders grace the stage, but Arnold is bodybuilding.
Its not a shame to come second to arnold, arnold is big in all the things he did. All the way big dude.

this thread is dedicated to arnold pics, as it should be. let's keep it that way. any other topics can be directed to other areas of the board.

1980 arnold. possibly his last bbing photoshoot.

man, Arnold had it all. It simply cannot get better than that for the realistic person not willing to do the drug cocktails of today's pros.

Thank you, Miken. Nice to be appreciated.

Those 1980 pics taken outdoors, he looks better in those than he did onstage! Must be something going on there. Anyone know if the pics were taken before/after the show, or both? Could it be that Arnold's timing was off!?  :o

Oh, and if you believe his I-trained-eight-weeks-for-the-show hogshit, then you're a couple of amps short of a cycle LOL!

However long he trained intensively for the 1980, can't help but think he must've gone back to his 1960s Austrian training credo - disregard legs.

i assume they were either 7 days before/after the olympia. it's not that unbelievable that he trained for 8 weeks specifically for the olympia, since he was in good shape already for conan the barbian.

a few pics of the Oak, circa '68?

I'll post some rare never-before-seen Arnold pics from the 1980 Mr. Olympia. This will be rare to most since I will be scanning the pics from Albert Busek's Sport Revue -- a German publication. Stay tuned...

And i'll tell you who you remind me of, your the guy who comes to the gym who gets all dressed up as if you were going out to a club, sets everything up on a bench press and loads 100 pounds and cranking out quarter reps yelling at the top of your lungs. Then waiting 10 minutes between sets and watching all the bigger people in the gym and saying shit like there all drugs or there nothing compared to me (meanwhile you only weigh 60kgs = 130 pounds).
then going home and measuring your massive 13 inch arms and crying to your mum that they haven't grown in years, so then you procede to get on the internet and try to bash people who actually go to the gym and have something positive to say about the world.....
Oh and i know what your gonna say next...MELTDOWN, hahah you loser

LOL! Did I strike a nerve then, Oz? I have positive things to say about the world, now and then. You, on the other hand, are nauseatingly devoted to one man. You have Arnold on a pedestal higher than Muscle Rock.

Did you know that Arnold used to have Franco on a pedestal? But he still only came up to his chin!

For the record, my guns measure 13-and-a-half inches, and I load 105lbs on the bar for bench press.

Why would anyone dress for a club to go to the gym? You didn't think that through, did you?

Oh, and 60kg is 132lbs, if you're gonna be pedantic, be accurate too.

Watching the bigger people in the gym? Why would I care about size? Surely BB is just as much about proportions if not more so.

For example, what use is a 20" arm if you have elbows like someone's knees? Not all that impressive, is it? It's all relative, as they say.

Hope this helps, Dude.

Seriously though, are you really a pro? I'd sooner talk than bitch. Take the above in jest, kay?

yes, thanks once again pollux. apparently arnold refused to complete 2 of the 8 mandatories, and this was apparently the reason why the ABC sports coverage decided not to broadcast the event (even though they had --i assume-- been filming it all right up to the end of the show.) they claimed that he shouldn't have won in a true sporting ethical code, whereby one must stick to the rules of the sport. but i'm not even 100% sure if it says that one must complete all 8 mandatories, so maybe someone can shed some more light on this topic.

this picture, by Frank Hollfelder, is apparently taken from a Tomorrow's Man magazine in the early 1960's.

Funny how that pic to the right is the best triceps shot of Arnold ever.

Really? I've never heard that before. Would you happen to know what the two poses he refused to do were?  ???

pollux, thanks for the pics! the side-tri shot on the bottom left of the bottom picture is from the photoshoot that i posted above.

as for question regarding the 80 olympia, this is what Gene Mozee, at bbing.com forums, had to say:

Quote from: Gene Mozee
Speaking of judging, Wayne Demilia told me that the reason that ABC Television cancelled broadcasting the Mr. Olympia was due to the judges' overlooking Arnold's failure to perform two compulsory poses at the 1980 Olympia in Australia. When the decision came down that Arnold had won the contest, ABC officials asked how can a man win when he fails to do all of the required poses when requested by the judges? ABC said this was unacceptable as a legitimate athletic run event and they were cancelling all future broadcasts. If this is true,The Terminator helped terminate TV coverage of the Olympia on Wide World of Sports.
