First of all Moose, all I meant was that there was a syndicated news story from Canada on TV here (Dundee, Scotland) the other day, a light-relief sidebar about a moose crossing some frozen lake and the inevitable happening.

They got him out before he froze or drowned  :)

Also meant to say, re your fizz-eek; you are indeed Zane-like, only I believe your arms are a little shorter than his from shoulder to elbow, making your flexed arm look thicker. It's a matter of opinion whether shorter arms are a plus or a drawback.

...

The latest Arnie pics are kewl, he looked like such a baby with his chubby face in '66/'67!

I've seen a sample of that The Early Years vid, and Arnold's barbell curls ain't exactly strict LOL!

When I first saw the words 'curling exhibition' I thought it meant the kinda curling he used to do (with considerable success) with his father, before he got hooked on bodybuilding.

That sport sucks ass in my opinion, but it's popular in this country. In fact, I think Scotland's curlers did purdy well at the last Winter Olympics.

To me, it probably was invented when an ice rink janitor found a way to con retards into sweeping the ice for him LOL!

Keep up the good work, Korky! This time next year you'll be world champ!

Also, I have to wonder at the fact that Arnold had been training for 4 years or so, before someone (Bennett) pointed out that he needed to nail his calves.

TNBT

Thanks, Mike

I have this issue, ND. And believe it or not, there are NO articles or even pictures of Arnold inside. He's just simply on the cover...

Ah c'mon Pollux, you gotta reduce the show-through in those scans  ::)

LOL! I'm just jealous 'cos when it comes to rare Arnold shit, I got nuthin'!

Those pics in the mountains, I guess they're from the same shoot as the semi-relaxed pic in his auto-bio, said to be one week before placing second in the '66 Uni.

I'll bet you have that in your vault too, don'tcha?

And the Miami contest, Frank Zane beat him in that one, didn't he? That was probably the point at which Arnold realised he'd better learn a little about precontest diets.

Especially after Vince Gironda being so nice about his condition LOL!

LOL...I'm know, I know. I notice they show through. Some of the pictures I have in a scrap book, and can't help it.  :(

As for the "mountain pics"...yes, it's from the same photo shoot as the one in Arnold's book, but I HIGHLY doubt it's him 1 week out from the '66 NABBA Universe. Here's why...I have an MD issue that covers the '66 NABBA Universe and Arnold doesn't look as built as those mountain pics.

Page 148 of the Nov. 2004 issue of Ironman shows a picture of Arnold from those mountain pics and states he is 19 and 5 weeks out from the '67 NABBA Universe - wrong! The Universe was held on Sept. 24th. Arnold's birthday is July 30th. Either he wasn't 19 and just turned 20 or they got the weeks wrong!

And yes, Frank Zane did beat Arnold at the '68 IFBB Universe in Miami. If I have time, I'll post a rare pic of Arnold looking quite disappointed at his second place in that show.

My "Arnie Vault" does come in handy!  ;D

That's a great look. Healthy and almost Reevesesque

Wow, I'd stop right there, maintain, and just work calves.

Stay Hungry is a bollocks movie, but Arnold looks terrific in it. Especially in the scene where he's pumping up with dumb-bells before going onstage, and Jeff Bridges is trying to get his attention.

Will ya put the god-damn dumb-bells down!?  ;D

Then he launches into his stay-hungry monologue.

...

I like that shot of Arnold's second place in '68. LOL! He looks like he lost a hundred bucks then found a dime!

The shot of Schwarzenegger/Park in the mag article looks a little too homoerotic for my liking!  ;D

tnbt, arnie and park are likely pumping up before a photoshoot. bodybuilders sometimes use eachother in pulling/pushing movements, instead of weights. looks like they might be working reg's calves, but it's hard to tell.

pollux, the article is from this magazine.

I figured they must be doing something like that, maybe Arnold was helping stretch Reg's back or whatever.

Frank Zane is a cruel man. Somewhere an imitation tigress is mourning her cub LOL!

1. Is there anyone in todays bodybuilding that has this
good of a front double bi pose?

2. Looking wide at the 72 Olympia.

3. Turned his once mediocre calves into cows.

4. 30+ years and who looks better.

i'm not really a collector, perse. the only musclemags i have are more recent issues, but i enjoy surfing the web and collecting bits and pieces of arnold as i go along. here's another article on Arnold that you may not  be aware of until now - from the August '69 issue of Mr. America. (first pic)

bizzy, here's another shot from that incredible photoshoot - from a slightly different angle. (second pic)
