I've been an insomniac of sorts for nigh 12 years; sometimes it's not bad, sometimes it's bad, sometimes it's worse, etc. It's tough with the training and I was curious if there is anyone else on these boards who has consistent sleeping problems and how they deal with it and training.
I hate the State.

I think is a solution for you, my question is how old are you, what tip of work you do for living,  are you taking any medication for insomnia, are you taking any stimulants.

I am a teacher. I started having sleeping problems when I was 18, way before I ever touched any kind of stimulant. I am 30 now. I have been to urologists, psychiatrists and just about every other type of doctor and no one knows what's wrong. I have tried every sleep aid. What I am interested in is tips from people who suffer from similar problems.

Did any of the Dr.s measured you cortisol level to determinate your Adrenal function?
If you don`t mind I could PM you my Tel # or you can PM me your Tel. I have two clinical studies going on with my product regarding Adrenal function  and the results are very positive.

I've suffered from Insomnia in the past, but it tends to go away after a while.  I find that stress levels directly correlate to it.  Medicinal Marijuana helps a lot, but I only resort to that when it gets really really bad.

Don't workout late in the evening, eliminate chocolate proteins before bed time, before bed time  take 200 mg Humanofort.

A friend had/has the same problem, went thru many types of meds before finding something that works. It would probably be worth experimenting with prescription meds to find something effective if that hasn't already been done.

I'm assuming you've already taken the usual measures, like avoiding certain foods and exercise beyond a certain time of night, mellowing out and even having a glass of wine later in the evening to smooth things out.

I've done everything but I never drink alcohol, not even wine, lowers endogenous testo levels and it's empty calories.

Then it's time to open your mind. A glass of wine's thought to help reduce stress and can help initiate sleep, thus it's got pros to go with the cons you've used to justify writing it off without trying it.

If you've to a so-far unsolvable problem and are asking for answers, it's smarter to give anything reasonable a try before answering the question yourself, since so far you don't have a solution. The solution's drawbacks may well be worth it in return for help in avoiding insomnia, you won't know until you've found it.

Trial & error baby.. ;)

A combination of ZMA and melatonin (3-5 g) works pretty well.  A Tylenol PM on top of that usually does the trick.

It may be worthwhile to look into sleep meds if you have a chronic problem.

unisom gel caps work for me

don't know if you're a drinker but alcohol for some people really screws up sleep patterns too

Its not fun, and I don't like it. I have a script for seroquel, but I've been working swing shifts, so I can't even take it til late. Takes an hour or so to kick in... can't wait til I move in with my fiancee, I sleep much better holding her in my arms, I get peace then.

A friend of mine is going through something right now and mentioned to me that he hadn't slept in a few days so I gave him some Xanax to try and he told me the next day that it worked perfect for him. I guess he has always had insomnia and is sleeping better than he has in years. I don't suggest taking it long term though as it is quite addictive. For instance I take many of them every night and I can't imagine sleeping without them or other benzos. But for short term it usually works well.
