Katrina, disapearing middle class and the foreclosure cisis.
« on: December 21, 2007, 10:57:32 AM »
Obviously this has a real potential to blossom into a bonified actual insurrection that they'll be able to fight here.  I just wonder if that was the federal plan behind the disgusting neglect for a city destroyed and middle class in crisis all along.

On the news this morning they reported that homeless camps some numbering in the hundreds and expecting more are popping up around the country from people who lost their homes in the foreclosure crisis.

I expect we're going to see more and more protests like what just happened where these homeless are pepper sprayed and tazered.  In desperation, what will be these folk's next step?

wonderful time for America...

It's a much different America, now HH6.  We have well over 300 million people, all very diverse from each other.  Almost always you will have those that scoff over the "sky is falling."  Nations, Empires, and civilizations have collapsed without there literally being a "sky is falling" scenario pre-immenent.  Either it happens suddenly without there being much aware, or simply the fact that people are mostly conditioned to a deteriorating environment and view it as normal.

I do think that part of the blame falls on the middle class itself.  It is their individual choice to go out and get a 20-30 year mortgage, lease/finance a car or two, obtain credit cards, and finance everything else under the sun like furniture and appliances of all things.  Buying something without the money for it, and paying interest on top of it, is the principle reason the middle class are starting to bottom out.  Too many folks ditching the Savings in favor of easy-credit and insta-material wealth.

I'm not sure how this is a "the sky is falling" thread ???  I'm questioning why things are happening and where it might lead.

I agree...u can look at two ways..either people in the 30's accepted the shitty economy and tried to make the best of it or they could have taken matters into their own hands and tried something. Today most people are sheep. Hell most people forget about 911. All big business has to do is bring out the next shiny object and we forget about our problems. But I agree with ur post.

This is the Bush legacy.  He did what he was supposed to do - make life tough as hell for the middle class.

Funny thing is that Bush did very little for the people in those states where he got most of his votes. Still, entire states that see no benefit whatsoever from repugnant (republican) candidates consistently vote for all these assholes. People are just fucking dumb. I really do not understand the mindset of people in the "heartland". I really fucking don't.

I know I'm going to take heat for the way this statement looks, but what Bush has 'masterminded' has been far worse than 9/11.

Im sorry but if you buy something, anything for that matter house, car, credit cards, anything and either you dont have the foresight to understand you will have to save to pay for this or you just plain dont have money to pay for it then your a dumb ass plain and simple
