MAGOO is the leader in the ADONIS YOUTUBE DEADLIFTING CHALLENGE.

I have lots of people PMing me telling me they can bang out 40-50 no problem, but without the video they're just another bunch of Adonis-wannabee windbags.

So far the standings are:

1. MAGOO...30
2. MATTC...23
3. SPECIAL ED...1

"steele pegasus" deadlifted his 226 pound musclebear boyfriend after he passed out topping him, does he get credit for one?

you're hardly a pussball moving 225 off the floor like it's paper, true 225 isn't much weight for deads but you look like you still had a bunch of reps left easily.

i'd say you should give it a shot sometime, it's really weird. the first 10 or so felt like i could go all day long, but then i just hit a wall where i couldn't catch my breath any more. it's more like cardio than actual lifting, i got too tired as opposed to hitting failure.  :P

Dave,

It's the cardio giving out before the muscles. I've had many people tell me they're gassing out before muscular fatigue sets in. Practice will help. Still waiting on all those "50 reps easy" guys to STEP UP!!!

i would need CPR honestly, i have no problem admitting that i couldn't do it and i don't think Andy Bolton or Benedickt Magnusson could either, not for lack of back strength but you'd have to have the wind of a triathlon competitor to do it.

fascinating with people who never do cardio are amazed how they fail in the gym doing high reps  ::)

At the same time, let's be real. The reason people are gassing is in part because of the heavy weight and the stress it's putting on the entire body, causing the heart to pump faster to get the fresh blood to the bodyparts screaming for oxygen.

After all, we wouldn't see people gassing with just the 45 lb bar after 30 reps, would we?

I'm with ya on that man.  I haven't done 225 for reps in ages so don't know what I could honestly get.  If it were JUST a strength thing, that'd be one thing.  But my cardiovascular system is shit.  That's why when I squat on my drop sets, I never go above ten reps...can't afford to keel over from a heart attack when I got kids to raise.

you're right it's a combination of the two things, 225 is just enough weight to cause the stress on the body you're talking about.

what about the idea of pausing after after 15 reps...
it would have to be a good 30-40 second pause each time like i said before.

if you mean pausing at the top, it doesn't help that much. on the floor would work unless you're like me and sitting with the bar on the floor makes it hard to breathe. kind of a catch-22.
