You are better off purchasing Proscar (5mg) and cutting the tablets into 1/4's or 1/2's, it is much cheaper that way. I have been using 2.5 mg /day of proscar since the early 90's and believe that it has stopped my hair loss and perhaps gained some new ones at the vertex. I would also recommend using minoxidil 5% as a regrowth agent. As mentioned previously, should you stop either for an extended period of time you WILL lose the gains you have made. For now, these two are the only two FDA approved treatments for hairloss. I believe in the "kitchen sink" approach, which means that perhaps not one hairloss treatment will yield results but using several different treatments may produce better results as they compliment one another. I also use Nizoral shampoo eod, spirolactons cream and a prescription concoction called proxiphern, which contains minoxidil, sod's, spiro, etc. You can also try minoxidil with azelic acid. I am 46 and have been using a combinations of these products since I was about 24. I only have a recession with no balding at the vertex. However, duirng the past 6 months I have been on a heavy cycle and have noticed some loss. So I am tapering off and plan to try a more hair friendly cycle in Spring (primo and/or anavar).
One cavaet is to never use proscar while taking deca as it is reported to increase MPB.
