My mom was is a little shaken up.. She looked up to Bhutto a lot and always spoke highly of her. Her going to Harvard, being elected Prime Minister, being so intelligent and beautiful meant a lot to all south asian women, not just pakistanis in general. This is pretty sad news to me as well, as her death not only brings instability to that region, but is also a slap in the face of many women who liked and aspired to be like her. I've always been a promoter of womens' rights, which are quite limited within south asian communities unless the pockets of the family run deep.
I've never heard my mother speak much about politics, but she said Musharaf was probably behind it. Now I don't like him myself, but I think his firm grip on the country keeps it stable, but also creates more terrorism.
