PS. I wish that we could have Lee in the show!

so, invite him.  what's the IFBB going to do?  become a US only league?

Didn't say that the Australian show was cancelled...only the Japan Pro show.  I was noting that Lee Priest is always a frontrunner in the Australian show, before he even sets foot on the stage, just because he is Australian, just as Hide would be the frontrunner in the Japan Pro if it was happening, because he is Japanese.

Thanks for explaining that, I read it wrong. However it was a good opportunity for me to promote my show.....

Hey Bob sup? Serious question. So Lee is no longer considered under suspension just completely banned from the IFBB? Just wondered cause in order for someone to be under suspension they would have to still be a member of said organization. So when they decided to not lfit the suspension they went a step further and banned him?

he can invite who ever he wants, because it's his show.  the only thing the IFBB could do is yank their sanctioning, but the IFBB can't afford to lose its last remaining non-US show.  (the NZ show would not be viable without the AUS show)

Santa Susanna invited Marcos Chacón and Sergei Ogorodnikov, and there is no evidence that they were IFBB pros before or since.

My guess on why it was cancelled..

1. They were able to book the hall...Check

2. They were able to put large dividers up between urinals to stop laughter from westerners...Check

3. They were able to mass murder 300 dolphins so everyone in attendence could put dolphin in with every shake they drank at the event...Check

4. They were able to fly in a half dozen tai flyboys under the age of 14 to pose as 18 year old girls for the judges for the evening...Check

5. So that just leaves that they callanced the show because they were not able to get a 10 foot Gong that they have for every bbuilding show in japan...Which is what makes there shows so fucking funny...Watching some of those guys get gonged is beyond funny...

Oh well maybe next year

Why not have Lee there as a "special guest". Of course, he can't compete, but perhaps he could guest pose......

Also, while at the show, why not have the audience (the 200 or so Aussie homosexuals that show up) sign a petition for the IFBB to allow Priest to don the thong and baby oil, and make his triumphant return to competition?

Marcos Chacon was IFBB PRO cause he won in 2005 in Huelva heavyweight Class at the spanish national. Every year one spaniard has right to have it. Except in 2007, there were 2 new IFBB PRO´s Paco Mula (48) and Raul Carrasco  (26). They compete this 2008.

I can imagine Sergey was Rusia Champion any year, too

No, they'll let it happen on a technicality so Bob can publicly claim he wasn't thrown out (kinda like Lee).  FOr example, they put a requirement that IFBB card must be renewed in person at a show or something, then Bob can say, "he wasn't kicked out.,..  he let his card expire, so he is not curently a member" or some such horseshit.

Do the rest of the math...500 people attending this event @ average $50 per head equals $25,000 plus some vendor fees, minus venue, guest posing fees, personnel and other sundry costs...after paying the pro's the $20,000 purse, doesn't leave much to pay these other costs.

Until bodybuilding gains some other avenues of revenue (television, pay per view, etc.), you aren't going to see too many big shows that can pay the kind of money that the Olympia and Arnold can.

(In fact, that is probably why the Olympia chose to stay in Las Vegas permanently rather than moving from city-to-city as it had in the old days.  It is easier to drum up interest if people know that the event is going to be in the same place every year.  If the Olympia was in Vegas one year, in Munich the next, then London, then Sydney, many of the regular audience would decide to skip the show and watch it online, hitting the IFBB and AMI deep in the pocket book.)

Messiah of Muscle:  Correct me if I am wrong.  I am guessing at your audience figures based on the turnout at other pro bodybuilding shows.  Hope that I am wrong and that your contest turns a good profit.

Do the rest of the math...500 people attending this event

that's the problem.  the old Night of Champions would sell out the Beacon Theater each year, and that holds 2800.  Pre-judging and finals would give you 5600 tickets sold.  Perhaps even a third seating for women shows.  Much more of a profit margin with 7000 tickets at $50 each.   And the Beacon is considered small.   There were many shows in the 80s and 90s that would sell out much larger theaters.

The IFBB needs to figure out how to get people into the seats.  Better advertising (local as oppose to national), better judging, more aesthetically pleasing physiques, more tier one bodybuilders (only the winner qualifies for the olympia so that the 2-5 place people have to enter more contests, no automatic qualifying from last year), and stop with the petty definition of who's a pro (Lee, Sami, NABBA Universe winners).

bodybuilding already had and lost TV and pay per view.  The Olympia was on ABC Wide World of Sports in the 80s.   Pro contests use to be on ESPN in the 90s.  They tried ppv for the Olympia a few years ago.   People aren't interested in the super massive look.  Networks don't want to deal with the steroid issue.

Well, basically, he's just a "free agent"....his membership ran out, he applied for reinstatement, he was denied....so he's just a man without a country. (so to say)

No action will be taken on Hide as he has nothing that would "throw him under the bus"....he has been arrested, he has the opportunity to prove his case and clear his name. The IFBB may take action IF he is convicted of said crime...right now all there is, is an allegation.

If he is convicted of possession of steroids?  The IFBB may "take action"??

Are you serious?

Given that the IFBB wouldn't exist without steroids, and all members are "on", wouldn't you call that a bit hypocritical, Bob?  ::)
