16 months ago I bought a super duper Toshiba laptop with massive storage and a powerful graphics card for 2000 USD, all conceived to play high requirement pc games. I am a former gamer and as all gamers know we don't game for a hour or 2, no, make it 10 or 12...well to make a long story short, my laptop is dying and I just want to warn people there is no such thing as a games laptop; don't waste your money.

I still don't understand why people by laptops to replace a stand alone system. I think they are great as an add on but they aren't the end all.

Well, if you travel/move a lot getting a laptop could get handy. I'm thinking about getting one soon, and i want to able to play starcraft 2 (when that hits the shelves)... But gaming for very long is probably not that good... cooling is usually a problem for laptops.
What do you mean, "it's dying"

for travel it's obviously good but i see a hell lotta people using it instead of a stationary. at home, at the office etc i would never be able to post as much on a laptop!
i need professional gear for that!

dell's XPS line is great for gaming, largely because you can replace and upgrade all of the components.
if you're a serious gamer and have that kind of cash, though, your money would be better spent on a beefy desktop system with a midrange notebook for travel.

I play all my games on a lap top..smokes Call of Duty 4 but i can't even load Crysis. I'm going to get a Gaming rig in the spring. Even Alienware laptops can't handle the top games..unless u tone down the graphics. U just can't shove a big enough card/fan/chipset ina laptop.

There is a games laptop... It's a Dell XPS.
The top tier one is currently the Dell XPS 1730... I have a 1710 myself with a 7950GT mobile in it... It's a great machine.
If you're expecting to game on a laptop though, you're going to have to replace the thing at least every year to keep up with the latest game updates... That's just life.
