Need to Modify: My www internet cyberspace "foot print"
« on: January 16, 2008, 08:17:12 AM »
I've just found out and realised that eveything I post on your website is available to be Googled.  Therefore I must delete a lot

OK?

I'm off
No, I always smell like this
xL

I'm starting on the Toronto thread.  I hate to delete but must.  I'm told it remains on my HD?  But can i un-Google all I've said?

Hugely embarrassing that I've posted people's names and that when you google them you just get Linda posting on an obsure LA w8lifting board looking for people she knew 10-15-20 years ago.  I need to get on www.Ancestors.co.uk

xL

>>>Judi/Jag:  would it be possible for me to beg that you (although I know you never have before), delete a message quote on the "Toronto" thread where I mention someone by both his first and last name?  Unfortunately now when you google him, it comes up with some maniac in London on a BB board via LA discussing a nice guy in Toronto.  Please help me delete this hand print?

It is RON'S website.   Maybe you could pm RON and ask him to delete every one of your posts and your account and then you will be sure you are extra safe.   ;)

Of course google caches web pages so even if deleted google might still have a copy.

I suggest you contact them too.

Are you serious?  Obviously ~flower~, I have always known you are,

...as well as perhaps the funniest person I've ever come across.

I just must delete my Toronto postings.  I doubt either of the Stallone Brothers or Mel Gibson or even Jim Carrey give a flying F**K what I say about them...

cheers ~flower~, thanks for being here and therexL

heh , nothing you can do will erase it from google

nothing

it's all on there forever until one day when the internet crashes

everything you write is out there in cyber space imprinted for history

it's also on the yahoo search engine

dogpile

etc.

but hey you can try to ask them all for special attention and they might , just might , help you out and erase all those things you should have known better to write Linda , it's the freakin web for God's sake have you no sense of it ? and do you really really think the guys you mention are going to care enough about what you wrote ?

that is if it's true

still haven't figured it out myself.

Might be a right brain/left brain thing, a MorF thing.

either that or I tend to fill in all the details in order to make myself understood.  I type 90wpm.

Hey ~flower~!!  I've never ever yet said a nasty or real thing about our English Royalty.  I'll save that till later.  & I adore Ron + the things he's done.

(In the press today, they're saying noone is saying anything, which is hilarious...) Zip.

I was more concerned about myself.  I didn't do the thing whereby you create a silly name.

I used my own.  Therefore most people will remember me.

I'll fix it, I will, watch out, I'll google you next !!!

xxxLinda is your real name?   Is xxx your first name, and Linda your last, or is it your first name xxxLinda?   I guess that would make it easy to know it was you, probably not a lot of people named xxx!

Is there a family history to your name?  Is it passed down to the daughters? Like your Grandma was x, your mom xx, and you are now xxx?   If you had a daughter would you name her xxxx or would you revolt and call her y?

xxy.  Thankyou ~flower~ for putting me in my place and making me giggle.

I have a common name.  & yep, ~flower~, I have a totally silly name.
But luckily I'm still anonymous: I'm not on Winipedia or Facebook or even google yet.

My Dad is hugely Googleable though.

~flower~?  there was already a Linda on the night I clumsily logged onto your's and Ron's website, so i went mental and typed 3x's and was accepted.  (August 2006)

Can I really delete everything I've said?  that'd be fun(ny

I've got a massive birthday coming up next month and I'd like to get ready...  or put it all behind me.

xL

I'm not a computer whiz and didn't realise I've been leaving stuff behind, making a mark.

Think I managed to delete most of it though.  But I doubt any of the long since forgotten people I mentioned the first and last names of will mind being remembered by me.  I was simply perturbed when I realised that my post on your website came up 1st for a certain person I posted about last year on our Toronto thread and googled again yesterday, having forgotten and trying to remember...

& as for the rest (Jim Carrey and Mel Gibson, Robert deNiro et al., they all have at least 133,333,333 postings to google, so mine will get lost.

No problem Linda, I know where you're coming from. it's done.

I too get a little nervous about things I reveal on here, but I figure if I'm cryptic enough, only those who know,
will know who I'm referring to. That's what I mean't before when i said "shhh... some things should never been spoken about only until after all the parties involved have died"  ;)

I know what you mean about name & faces, I googled a few of the names you mentioned to see if the posts came up, and realized I have actually encountered some of the people you referred to.

I never knew your former boss Jerry G, I had seen him around occasionally, but I never knew him.
I wish I had. I know I along with all Torontonians, ...if not all Canadians have been positively impacted by his influence.
I read the speech that he gave to The Empire Club in 1969. What a remarkable man he must have been!
He must've been a joy to work under. If you drove his silver Jag, I bet I know where he got it. Did you know John C?
Now there was a proud English man if ever there was one. I remember his face beaming with pride when he recalled phoning up his mum to let her know that he had been invited to the royal wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer. She asked if he was going to be serving food, and he said 'No mum, I've been invited as a guest to attend the wedding ceremony, ...on the groom's side'. John used to own that Jag, Rolls & Bentley dealership. Used to keep his yacht at the Royal Canadian Yacht club on toronto island. He used to say 'Not bad for an old scrapper from liverpool'. I think his wife's name was Linda too. She was an absolutely stunning lady.

Did you attend the party for the closing of The Windsor Arms before the refurnishment?

I also googled the Molly J you mentioned. I didn't know her, but surprisingly enough, I know a few members of her family. Her brother Clarke. I've worked with him a few times, and I've also worked with their father. I know her ex sister-in law Heather, Clarke's former wife, as well as Heather's brother Warren. The funny thing is, I knew them all separately, and didn't know the mutual connections we had with each other  until just a few years ago. I didn't even know Warren & Heather were brother & sister, or that Heather used to be married to Clarke. She still uses her maiden name, and avoids connecting herself to him because of the additional career pressures it brings.

I originally met Warren in 92. My sister's boyfriend & I went to picking up my sister after work. We went to grab a quick bite to eat in a restaurant near my sister's office, before proceding to a business meeting we had, and we ran into Warren with his then 7 yr. old daughter. It was his daughter we noticed first. she was such a lovely, beautiful, articulate little girl, we couldn't help but be impressed with her. We were blown away with how smart and intelligent and exceptional she was. Anyway, we get to talking, exchanging business cards etc., and have been keeping in touch ever since. Back about 5 yrs ago, Warren & I were chatting on the phone, and I was asking about his daughter who must have been about 17 by then, and how she must be growing into a beautiful young lady. Even at the age of 7, you knew she would be an absolute stunner. I started laughing about how he must be living every father's nightmare, with her being 17 and so drop dead gorgeous, and it occurred to me she bore a strong resemblance to an actress I knew named Heather. Then I realized Heather & Warren had the same last name, so I asked him if he was related. That's when he told me she was his sister, and updated me on what she was doing, and that she just came back from LA having done a small part in her ex-husband's film. When he told me the name of the film, I almost fell off my chair. That's when I put it all together and realized she had been married to Clarke. I didn't know because she still uses her maiden name.  This was just before Thanksgiving, and Warren told me Clarke was going to be flying into Toronto to have Thanksgiving with everyone. So I shared my own personal Clarke story with Warren, who promised me he would share the story with the entire family over Thanksgiving dinner.  ;D (sometimes there is a little justice in this world afterall)

Ta Judi, you're ace.

'tis funny, I have no problem whatsoever leaving my stories on the www about Lady Babs Amiel and how we all thought she was gay, or about Jim Carrey and what fun it was to dance with him and have him repeatedly ask me out.

It's the people who didn't make it, the ones who tried but are now, when you google their names, only mentioned on a BB board about "Toronto Guys and Gals" by an old friend 20 years later...  I find that excruciatingly embarrassing and therefore appreciate that you (perhaps?) enabled me to delete my past name-dropping posts.

Fortunately (or unfortunately), everyone remembers a name as ordinary as mine.  I used to say Linda and smile when I wanted to be forgotten and only use my last name and shake hands when I meant business.

I'm also somewhat surprised about who made it and who didn't.  Some of the people I truly expected to be mega famous weren't.

Judi?  was that a photo of you you used to use as an avatar?  the pic wearing a tiara?
Just curious !

Linda, that all depends on your definition of making it. Alot of people achieve success outside of the limelight.
Sometimes, there's the desire to simply pull back, and work behind the scenes. As for your friend David R, I think he did pretty good for himself even though his name may not be a household word. I'm just trying to figure out which Yorkville socialite and serial divorcee he patterned his script from. I know the standard disclaimer is there, ...but I wonder...

btw - Dusty Cohl just passed away.
