Crap Slinging Split from "Vote in the Getbig Primary"
« on: January 21, 2008, 06:44:04 PM »
What's interesting is that I see results like this all over the internet.  Here's Ron Paul, dominating here like he does everywhere else.  I've never seen anything like this before.  We're supposed to believe the guy is polling at 5%  :-\

Are you referring to polls?  What polls show Ron Paul as an overwhelming favorite?  I haven't seen any.  And he has actually been placing right about where he has been polling, so it's a little difficult to see anything sinister going on IMO.

I haven't met a single person who has indicated they are voting for him.

I haven't met anyone either.  Maybe he's just a fan favorite here on this site.  To think that the 20 or so responses on Getbig are representative of the millions of voters in the US is a bit too presumptuous even if he's leading on other sites.

PS:  Careful when using that word "sinister"  ;)

He has sort of a cult following, but nothing that has translated into success in the voting booths, yet.

I was refering to just whatever forum I pop into generally surfing and yes, the little meaningless polls done about end up with Ron Paul dominating.  as you said, he's king of the internet.  To bad we're all just virtual and not real voters ;D I just find it hard to believe a guy that so many everywhere I look wants to win is only at 5%  All I'm saying is I have never seen that before and I have watched this stuff for a while.

Well, I decided to put this to the test.  Not like I have to because I DO see this all over anyway.  I searched forum and political on yahoo.  I then just just clicked one of the forums.  I've never been to this forum.  I searched for recent polls and found that this forum had also done a primary of their own just like this thread.  Here are their results ;)

http://www.debatepolitics.com/us-elections/26661-republican-2008-primary-election-dp-edition.html
Mitt Romney - MA    5 11.11%
Rudy Giuliani - NY    0 0%
Ron Paul - TX    22 48.89%
Mike Huckabee - AR    4 8.89%
Alan Keyes -Il    0 0%
Duncan Hunter - CA    1 2.22%
Fred Thompson - TN    3 6.67%
John McCain - AZ    10 22.22%
Hugh Cort - TX    0 0%
Dan Gilbert - NC    0 0%

This is fun, let's do it again, someone come up with a random number from 1 to 20.  I'll do a search with something like forum and nomination or whatever like that and look at that number in the search or the first after that number that has done some sort of poll if that number does not provide.

What's there to say?  Are these people registered voters?  Likely voters?  How mainy gimmicks are there?  These surveys don't really establish anything other than some people like Ron Paul.  What's the point?

Now he seems to be a fan favorite on 2 bodybuilding boards.  But does that represent a cross section of voters?

Are all polls in collusion?   I don't think so.

Gee i wonder who the "dipshit" that Berserker is talking about?    ::)

So now we have 3 internet forums running their "scientific" polls/primaries putting Ron Paul ahead?

How many people have voluntarily participated?  What, a 100?

I agree, what you are bringing up is interesting, but this method of "polling" and "research" is hardly sound.

What do you really think it is?

Sound for what, the only fucking think I'm backing up here is that everywhere I go on the net I see ron paul favored over and over and over and that it's very odd to see that of someone only at 5%.  It's an observation and not an invalid one.  ::)  I was called out that it might just be here, I backed it and am willing to experiment more to find out.  We can pick random numbers, search engines look along just one random page out of all page returns, I don't care.

Observations and real legit polling are 2 different things.  For example:  Polling the members of a gun club on gun control isn't sound or making the basis of your polling on people choosing to participate isn't always sound.

Have you researched more than 3?

no shit ::)

and yes, I have seen way more than 3.  I was indeed not offering for you guys to pick random numbers that we could go search if I didn't have an idea of what would most likely pop up.

I don't think anyone really disagrees that Ron Paul has a lot of support in some segments of the population.  At least I don't.  I also think he has been good for the race.

On the other hand, if you're trying to say or imply that the polls are wrong because of the buzz he has created on the internet, internet polls, etc., I don't buy that at all.  Is that your point?  Correct me if I'm wrong.

Again, I'd point to the results in the states where they've actually had votes so far.  The votes have been fairly consistent with the poll numbers.

That's ok,  I'm happy to keep telling you about yourself especially because you can't seem to handle it.   In the meantime try not to stray too far away from earth.

Oh no, I have no desire to go back and forth with a troll.  It's always a pointless endeavour and that's all you are, a troll with a vendetta against curiosity and suspicion.  What's really funny is you picked one hell of a forum to have such a vendetta... POLITICS and GOV having a long well established history of deception, documented over and over through the ages.  Everyone knows this and you get all troll on someone who questions the validity of things.  ::)  Yea, why would I argue with a pile of bullshit?  no thanks.  I'm done with you and really have no idea what your motivation is on this board.  I'm not sure why the pentagon started that program to confront people on message boards when they got guys like you... oh wait... mmmm nevermind ::)
