Serious question: what is he going to suddenly do different to now beat Jardine? He is one-dimensional..sprawl & brawl. I think people have his number and Jardine exposed it. I hope I'm wrong, but I doubt he will ever regain hi title...
Liddell is one dimensional and he didn't look any different when he fought Silva. The differences is that Silva played Liddells game and kept coming forward, leaving himself open to counter punches. Considering that Liddell had the longer reach this was a terrible strategy. Silva said he watched tapes of Liddells fights but from the way he fought it doesn't seem like he took anything away from them. His mistake was the idea that he could rely on his punching power and hopefully in one of the various exchanges get lucky and knock out Liddell. Liddells victory had more to do with bad strategy on the part of Silva than it did to any changes he may have made.
You cant deny that Liddell has punching power and because of that fighters shouldn't be looking to stand and trade with him. Jardine to his credit figured this out and stayed outside, attacking the legs and by doing so he took some of the steam off of Liddells punches. This strategy also limited Liddells movement by minimizing his use of angles. Angles are his bread and butter and the means by which he tricks opponents into taking an awkward position susceptible to counter punches.
