stimulis package
« on: January 24, 2008, 10:48:00 PM »
what a horrible "economic stimulis" plan....nobody ever learns from history.

hello, washington, look at your past! this has been tried before and people do not spend the money, either they pay-off credit cards(theyve already spent the money), or they save the money. rebates dont do s*** to "stimulate" the economy....and even if they did, we have a couple hundred TRILLION dollar economy in america...does anyone think that 150 billion is going to effect it much?

the only way possibel for it to have an effect would be through food stamps and extending unemployment benefits. both of those have returns of over a dollar and a half per dollar put in...both effect the people hit hardest by recesiion, both keep the money in america. another great idea is to invest all of it in infrasturcture. that creates jobs in america, buys american goods, and addresses an on going problem (poor infrastructure) that we are going to have to deal with in the future anyways. killing two birds with one stone on that one..

anyways...everybody in washington are (apparantly) idiots.

It is interesting that balanacing the budget and getting rid of the trade defecit are not even discussed in America anymore

more and more we are producing less, buying more foreign goods (on credit) , not saving, living beyond our means..this style of living is not sustainable
Here comes the money shot

Japanese don't buy Americans goods, apart from fashion items which are made in India

hell, the Chinese and most foreign Governments attach high import taxes on our goods making them cost prohibitive..Also people from those countries only buy good made in those countries.

we have no sense of "made in America"

Oh, Jesus.  You ever hear of this little thing called the military-industry complex?

Boeing, IBM, Lockheed-Martin, and a slew of computing-related firms?

BTW, where did the Steele in your handle come from?

One thing that I don't like is all of the bi-partisan bullshit..there has to be a group of people out there whose best interest is the betterment of America irrespective of party affiliation.

Foreigners perform the work that is cost-effective there.  The high margin stuff is still here. Despite all the scary stories the media likes to trot out, the best and brightest of the foreigners still come here.  And usually start a firm here.  That's why we need people like Bloomberg in politics, not retards like Ron Paul who appeal to the immature.
