Well because Ronnie had nerve damage to his left side causing atrophy in both his left arm and lat He still brought the wow factor from the front but when he turned around both his symmetry and conditioning from behind were pretty much gone. I only say gone in comparing him to himself he's still way beyond most of the pack.

He was a shell of his former self @ the 2007 Olympia.
He or Dorian in their primes would have easily won in 2007.
Just to put a little perspective on how he looked in 07
compared to his prime.

I think he was just overdone in 2007. He went hard all year and was really burnt out.

Every other year he had taken months off after the win and this makes a MAJOR difference because your body responds when you come back. I think he burnt it out and it stopped responding.

I don't know if he can get back close to his best but i am sure he can do better than 2007 if he rests up.

as usual, we can see that 1999 Ronnie, as Peter McGough wrote in his article, 'advanced the sport" the night he won.

and its clear that he was ahead of his time to a level then that still has not been equalled, even by Ronnie himself in 2003.

and Jay is nothing compared to Ronnie (neither was the blocky olympian that came before ronnie lol)

True Jay Cutler can not compare to Ronnie in his prime.  That can be said about every other competitor ever though, no one has ever been able to compare to Ronnie and I doubt we will see any one stepping up for a long time to come...........

Why is it in gym pics and random pics of Cutler, you can see vascularity, but when it comes to comps, he's smooth as silk.....?

You can see "some".  You can't see a lot.  You look at most of the gym pics of these guys and they are roadmaps precontest.  Jay does not strike me as freaky (ie, veiny, striated) *ever*.  In reality, if he did have more detail I doubt there would be much conjecture over his worthiness.
