Why not? Do you think it is better to hide the issues of the public and deny they exist, or to confront them head on with open discussion? Whether that discussion turns insulting or stays "PC", wouldn't it be better to discuss these things than pretend they don't exist? I would think as a teacher you would advocate open discussion about individualism and the difference between people, including race.
