Anyone who saw him in both the Colorado and the IRONMAN knows his level of conditioning was every bit the same and better than the Colorado. You're comparing photos. His color was a little light at the IRONMAN and I asked him about it in a video interview yesterday.

I took the first set of photos and they are way too dark. I could make MattT look 10x better than he is in photos. Can't judge a show based on pics.

we are quantifying two comparable entities against each other..

translation for you: yes he may  look better in person but I think that we can fairly compare pics of the same person in the same pose at different times

He's bigger and better this year than last.  Keep in mind that he will peak at the Arnold.

Can you post 2 pics - one from Colo and one from Ironman - where Phil is more ripped, fully flexed, in 2008 than in 2007?

He is cut but smooth.  I just don’t see the striations on Phil but I guess that comes with time.  I don’t agree with everything GH15 says but he should not be MrO, should have a career similar to Shawn with a couple of Arnolds under his belt but doesn’t have enough width, just not enough for the Big Man’s title in Vegas.   But he is the best sell in below average generation after Kev, Flex, Shawn, Cormier, Dex, Ronnie, Yates, and so on.

i think he looks like he is bigger, but is simply holding a little bit of water.

as for being mr o, as gh says dex should be the current mr o, to give it to heath, yet overlook dex would be a disgrace.

dex is the most complete bodybuilder on the stage today, and so far ahead of heath its not even close.

i like heath, but he is narrow, and not in proportion. you can't deny this.

I agree on Dex.  he's the best bodybuilder on the planet, and the most complete.

But he'll never win the O, or they would have given it to him last year.

besides, will any MD guy ever be given the crown?  That's a tough one.  Give away the legacy for a year, to allow md to use it as they see fit?  Hell, it's CALLED "joe weider's mr. olympia".  I'd be willing to put down $ that we don't see an MD guy win the crown in the next 3 years.

That's because he hasn't peaked yet. The Arnold is were you peak. The Ironman is a gauge to see you need to be.

Are you trying to use reasoning with MattT?

Agreed that unless he comes in sharper Dexter will beat him and maybe Melvin. Yes, Melvin did look pretty good. I hope he doesn't drop too much water.I hope he's been eating pie filling for every meal since the Arnold because he just needed to have more calories in him to appear more ripped.  More calories and the same amount of water.

There you go Jim; fixed it for you.

True, you can't judge a show based on pics but when you have such a blatant contrast such as these it's easy to tell he's going to start sacrificing his conditioning. It's happening again, the insulin will screw him up just like the others. Last year he was shredded, this year he was ripped but not as sharp. He's going to start losing his quality, mark my words, I'm rarely wrong on stuff like this.

can anyone name a single competitor where insulin made the guy BETTER, not just bigger?

I've always laughed at Joelocal's hatred for insulin, almost as much as he hates libs or facts.

But in this case, if the pics are accurate, Phil's bicep was a little smaller and looked a lot more defined last year.  maybe we'll find a pic from the ASC where it cuts like the Colorado pro.  But if not, joelocal might have found a perfect example of one year change for the worse.

No, not off hand but I can name a ton of people that insulin made them worse.

And for the record, I don't hate libs, if were not for libs we'd have very little in the way of political comic relief. I mean how can you not laugh at these clowns......

i think phil is a good bber
but no a mr o... and is not on the same planet as levrone... or dillet
too small...
but gh does pose a good question phill without the arms?

 ???
he has good legs...
but his arms to chest ratio throws his symetry out of whack
but in todays cimate he is one of the better bbers around...
choice is an illusion

That republican senator who played footsie in the mens room was pretty funny.

You're right.  democrats are funny.

If you want sad, look at the 4000 bodybags from iraq.  Dems didn't have the white house or the congress then, so I think you should look for dogshit in your own backyard before you mock the dems for funny faces.

Are you guys really bodybuilding fans?

That pic of Phil Heath in the Colorado Pro is 2006 not 2007!

Remember Phil won the first ever Colorado Pro in 2006 (his first pro show), then Kai Green won it last year in 2007!

Yes, "you need to be at the shows to judge them".

I went to both the Arnold and Olympia last year and couldn't see shit.  I was watching the show from the big screens.  My point is that yes, you can judge based on pictures and I would say 99% of people do.  Unless you are in the first 10 rows, you can't even see the bodybuilders anyway.

That said, I agree that Phil's colour was probably a major contributor to his apparent worsening of condition, but I don't agree his conditioning was better at the Ironman.  I would say it was a little worse.  Look at the detail in his delt in the side chest pose in both pictures.

He's about 10% more ripped at the Colorado show then the ironman, but im sure he will be tighter at the Arnolds.

To be fair, he hadn't fully hit the side chest in the picture that you posted.  Given the improvements he made in muscularity, a slight drop in conditioning is acceptable.

When Isaac posted Phil's pictures in 2005 on here I didn't think much of them.  He looked very good, but I had no idea he would turn into the bodybuilder that he has and in hindsight although Isaac accurately predicted Phil's success, I really have no idea what he was basing that prediction on.  I don't see how anyone could assume someone could improve that much.  He always had incredible arms and shoulders and everything else was alright, but not knockouts like his arms and shoulders.  Now he has brought his legs up to the world class level and soon he will do the same for his back.  He is an amazing bodybuilder.

ok here he is fully flexed, looks bit tighter, but i still think he looks harder at the Colorado show.
