What time is it?

OBAMA TIME!!!!!

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Three national polls of Democrats show Sen. Barack Obama is the front-runner for the nomination. But what's behind this latest momentum?
art.mccain.obama.gi.jpg

New national polls show Sen. Barack Obama, right, trumping Sen. John McCain in November.

There's growing evidence that Obama is seen as more electable than Sen. Hillary Clinton.

If you average the "poll of polls" -- AP-IPSOS, USA Today/Gallup and CBS/New York Times -- Obama leads Clinton 50 percent to 40 percent, with 10 percent unsure.

Here's something Democrats agree on even more: In two different polls, around 70 percent of Democrats polled believe Obama will get their party's nomination.

When Democrats were asked about the general election, the New York Times-CBS News poll showed Obama had the best chance of beating Sen. John McCain -- 59 percent to Clinton's 28 percent.

And it's not just Democrats.

The USA Today-Gallup poll asked Republicans which Democrat would McCain have a better chance of beating.
Don't Miss

The answer: Clinton 66 percent, Obama 18 percent.

Republicans are just itching to run against her. Her response? She's heard it all before.

"I hear all these folks talking about who is or isn't electable. Well, they said the same thing about me when I started running in New York. ... You know, nobody would vote for me, good grief. I was wasting my time and my money," Clinton recently said. "But I trust the voters, and frankly that's who matters."

All three national polls asked voters the electability question in a general election matchup.

They show Clinton in a dead heat with McCain -- both coming in with 46 percent.

Obama, meanwhile, leads McCain by seven points -- 49 to 42 percent.

So why does Obama do better? Here's his answer:

"It's a choice between going into the general election with Republicans and independents already united against us, or running with a campaign that has already united Americans of all parties around the agenda for change. Now that's the choice," Obama has said.

Independents are crucial swing voters. They give McCain a solid lead over Clinton, according to the New York Times-CBS News poll. But independents abandon McCain for Obama.

If Obama's the alternative, McCain's support among independents drops from 52 percent to 36 percent.

The difference in electability looks small, and neither Democrat looks like a sure winner or a sure loser.

But the belief that Obama is more electable is taking hold.

This is before they've ever stood onstage next to each other in a real debate.

Obama is becoming a scary beast.  he was EXCITED when hilary attacked him last night.  He's getting some serious confidence.

remember when everyone thought Nixon won the 1960 radio debate, but on TV, he looked sweaty and old while JFk looked poised and handsome?  That is what will happen here, on a lot more TV screens, in some serious HDTV.

Rich people vote Repub.
Poor peole vote Dem.
This economy (7.5% inflation, record gas prices, 101$ gas, dollar at $1.50 to Euro) is horrible.
More poor people = more people vote dem.

My family and I have been lifelong republicans, every one of us.
But we're sure leaning Dem this year.  When a family of guntoting florida crackers is inclined to vote for an inexperienced black kid from chicago over a warhawking war hero... well, there are families all over the country who are doing this too.

The only people who will vote repub this time are rich people (dems will end those tax breaks) and people who are okay with a recession.

Great choice there.A senile old fool who thinks government has the right to run everything, including professional sports drug testing programs and trying to ban ultimate fighting.Or a guy thats going to try and usher in socialism and make those who work pay for those who wont.A guy that will keep us in Iraq for 100 years and certainly end up getting us into Iran so we can  protect Jews in the middle east,or a guy that will try and defend our country with pee shooters.Thats the best we have to offer?

the mainstream medias never promoted/worshipped any presidential candidate like they re doing it with obsama.

And you wonder why most people are convinced he s going to get elected even before it started...

Leftist owned MSM prepared this since at least one decade of constant and daily brainwashing.

No surprise here.

It's not even funny.

People say "A black man can't be elected president".

But a black man *has* won ten straight primaries by a margin of 33% over a very well known and experienced Clinton.

Times change.  Some things are "just so" because we've heard them for so long.  In reality, people care more about health insurance (Obama will insure 100% of children in America) and recession (McCain plans to continue borrowing and Bush tax cuts for wealthy) way more than they care about color of skin.

ha ha, delusional.
what is this 100% insurance of children bullcrap?  how many children in history of america have gone to a hospital and got rejected service?  hint, it's a nice round number.

mccain's no prize, but that satellite eared connect the dot chocolate face is worse.

ha ha, obama, negro please.

also, those "poor" get their paychecks from the "rich", so the "poor" might want to think twice when it comes voting time.

Obama is for universal health care for children.

Right or wrong, there are a lot of parents (both dem and repubs) whose paychecks are smaller, and have seen their ins. rates rise.

it's going to be hard for mccain (voted against s-chip health care, right?) standing on the debate stage telling america that he won't insure every kid, but Obama will.

during the clinton years i paid 39% federal income tax and the economy did quite well. under bush i pay 35% and the country is fvcked !

i'll happily go back to the higher rate.

Hahaha.... the more the economy goes down the crapper, the harder row McCain will have to hoe.

Bush tax cuts + War = stagflation = McCain.

1. mccain will never say " i won't insure any kid"
2. hopefully the voters will ask themselves (and someone will ask the candidates) who will end up paying for this "universal healthcare"?  it's not really free
3. what do you think obama prioritizes more, national security or the economy?  mccain?

Tax cuts ARE NOT the problem.Revenues to the government have never been higher. Its the spending thats killing the country.Bush has spent us into the poor house. He is not a conservative,McCAIN IS NOT A CONSERVATIVE and most of the republicans in office are not conservative.Cutting taxes works, but only if you cut spending as well or at least dont increase it.If you get a raise of 40.00 a week but now spend 80.00 dollars more, then the raise meant nothing. However,if you get 40.00 dollars more a week, but spend the same how will that work out for you.Its the same with tax cuts.

That is a talking point heard often, but not really based in fact.

Obama called for hitting areas of Pakistan where AQ reside, and he was mocked for it by the repubs.  last week. Bush ordered strikes in pakistan to get AQ #3 man.

Obama has said we'll have forces in Iraq indefinitely to protect our bases there.  he reserves the right to move as we please in that country to stop terror - an extension of the Bush doctrine actually.

Obama wants to move troops from Iraq to Afghanistan, Africa, and Pakistan, in order to kill Bin Laden and take out AQ where it is unchecked.  There aren't training camps in Iraq - but they sure exist in pakistan.

Obama doesn't scream like Mccain, who promises "100 years of war" to give the neocon voters a boner.  But he doesn't flipflop like mccain either - mccain said 2 days ago that we'll be out of iraq "soon"... WTF?  100 years becomes "soon" the minute he nails down the republican nomintion, huh?  Nice!

To me, it looks like obama is all about killing al quida all over the world and keeping forces in iraq.  To me it also looks like Mccain just got kinda soft to pander to general election voters.

Give me one good reason why this guy should be president? Is it for his speaking abilities and charisma? Because thats all he has going for him.
