Stormshadow makes good points, all which when we question ourselves we realise our priorities on order of us caring about things that die is all screwed up.I can watch a beheading video of an adult human but cant watch a cat or dog have the same done to it.I think it comes down to the fact that the adult is grown up, knew the risks and chose to go to Iraq anyway whereas the animals are totally trusting and love us unconditionally, as any pet owner can attest to, in this way we also see them as children, in that we are looking after them.Likewise I couldn't watch a child be beheaded. As for questioning why we care about a dog and not the million or so civilians that have been killed, again good point, we have just been socialised to accept it as part of war, we just dont ever want to see any of it in our media, out of sight, out of mind. When we do see pictures of Iraqi children with limbs blown off, I think subconsciously we know its very wrong, but as we are powerless to stop a war our own country basically started,we quickly try to forget about it and pretend we never even saw it.Likewise we accept cows being shot in the head because we have been socialised to just accept it because we need to eat it.Senseless killing of things we dont need to kill for any reason angers us.
