To put this in to perspective, Arthur Jones at Nautilus HQ's in the early 70's had Sergio Oliva training there-and Arthur measured Sergio's waist at 30 inches, and his legs were 31 inches, Sergio is the ONLY pro that legitimately had legs bigger than his waist.

Now, if you look at Sergio's waist from pics in that time persiod his waist is SMALLER than Melvins and about the same size as Brian Buchanon.

There was a dude here that had pics of when Brian started winning the Mr. Britain contests, his waist was so small that he had to pin his posing trunks over.  So yes, Brian had a 27 inch waist. As far as Melvin, I think he did when he first started competing. He is 5'8 and was 230, yet his waist was freaky small. it could be true that he did, but who really cares.

Now Flex had claimed a 27 inch waist back in 1993 as well. If you ever noticed, that Brian, Melvin, and Flex, and JoJo Ntiforo all have the same type of physique.

I would tend to doubt even Jones claim. I don't think there ever was a bodybuilder with thighs bigger than their waist. Tons have claimed they do but none verified.
